28 Black: Review (Honest Opinion)

28 Black is basically an international energy drink. It’s sourced from Germany, Singapore, the Middle East, and they even have retailers from all around the world. The drink’s contents also do justice for its availability.

For an overview, having an 8.5 fl.oz drink will mainly give you 80mg of caffeine and 7 calories. It doesn’t have sugar and fat. Based on these, it’s easy to say that one serving has exemplary content.

However, an energy drink is evidently more than its nutrition facts. In this review, we need to take several factors into account, including the price, flavors, availability, and so much more.

For a short answer: I’ll give 28 Black a rating of 7 out of 10. It has good offers in terms of caffeine and vitamins, but I think there is still room for improvement when it comes to the distribution of nutrients. I also think that the use of three artificial sweeteners can be a big con.

If you want to know more about what I think of 28 Black, read on to the following sections.

28 Black contains varying amounts of B vitamins, artificial sweeteners, natural extracts, and other natural ingredients.

It’s important to note that the drink doesn’t have preservatives. This is a big plus. It also has a good range of B vitamins, extracts, and even Inositol.

Another distinct quality is the fact that the coloring concentrate is sourced from carrots. This further builds the all-natural quality of 28 Black.

Keynotes: 28 Black doesn’t have fat, sugar, and preservatives. It’s a low-calorie drink with a number of vitamins present in its content. The amount of Inositol is also in a safe yet generous amount.

On the other side, some cons that I found include its lack of Protein and not being too generous with B vitamins.

The specific levels of artificial sweeteners used weren’t also discussed. This is usually not a point of concern, but considering that there are three various types, it’s best if you can monitor the intake with certain amounts.

How Much Caffeine Is In 28 Black?

An 8.5 fl.oz serving of 28 Black has 80mg of caffeine.

Cups of coffee
28 Black has moderate caffeine levels.

28 Black has a moderate amount of caffeine. It isn’t too low to reduce the drink’s effects, but it’s isn’t too high either to pose several health risks in one serving. This is one of the best things about the drink.

You won’t also have to worry about the caffeine limit of 400mg set by the FDA. 28 Black’s content is barely a quarter of the said limit.

Note that even if this is the case, you should still avoid this if you’re sensitive to caffeine. If you want a drink with an even lower caffeine level, then I recommend Krating Daeng since it only has 50mg of it.

How Much Sugar Is In 28 Black?

28 Black doesn’t have sugar.

If you’re always worried about going through the bothersome sugar crash after a sugary drink, then 28 Black will be the least of your concerns. The FDA’s 50g daily sugar limit won’t also be important.

In place, the drink used artificial sweeteners. Specifically, you can expect Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium, and Steviol Glycosides.

This is where my main concern lies. While some drinks use only one or two sugar substitutes, 28 Black used three. This means that the drink may be unnecessarily sweet, and may also pose some risks if not taken in moderation.

Although overconsumption of artificial sweeteners is rare, this shouldn’t be disregarded.

If you want other sugar-free drinks that don’t come with this concern, then I recommend checking out Razorwire or CELSIUS On-The-Go. Alternatively, you can check out my article about the best sugar-free energy drinks.

How Many Calories Are In 28 Black?

28 Black has 7 calories per 8.5 fl. oz serving.

According to FDA, a healthy adult should maintain a 2,000-calorie intake daily. This may vary depending on bodily needs and conditions, but it’s the general rule for those that aren’t following special diets.

This being said, it’s evident that 28 Black won’t have any effect on your weight and overall diet. You won’t have to adjust what you eat and drink even if you plan on taking this regularly.

Does 28 Black Actually Work?

28 Black actually works like an energy drink for light boosts.

For effectiveness, I’ll stick to giving 7 stars out of 10 for 28 Black. The caffeine content of 80mg is good, but if you’re someone who engages in heavy physical and mental activities, then this won’t be the best option around.

Another thing, the effects of the drink may not even last you a day. If this is the case, then I’d recommend other energy drinks with relatively higher caffeine levels.

For recommendations, you should check out the article I made about the best energy drinks for workouts.

If you’re looking for one that focuses more on nootropic benefits, then my article about energy drinks for studying will be a bigger help.

Nevertheless, you can still expect 28 Black to give you a good energy fix for four to five hours.

Is 28 Black The Best Energy Drink?

28 Black is not the best energy drink around, but it’s definitely one of the brands that you should consider if you’re looking for an all-natural beverage.

28 Black is a good all-natural energy drink.

In my opinion, 28 Black has very good offers, but it’s not the best one in town.

There are definitely other brands with the same price that can offer a lot more with the use of fewer sweeteners and broader flavors. This is the same for the number of B vitamins and the presence of Protein.

I recommend this energy drink to people who are looking for a somehow healthier alternative to go for a quick physical activity like a morning run. In this case, then you may find the drink the best option for you.

On the flip side, if you need a really strong energy boost, then 28 Black’s 80mg of caffeine may not be enough.

How Does 28 Black Taste Like?

The taste of 28 Black will depend on the flavor you’re drinking. More often than not, you should expect fruit-based tastes with a tangy aftertaste.

28 Black is available in many different flavors.

  • Acai
  • Sour Mango Kiwi
  • Sour Cherry
  • Pink Grapefruit Mint
  • Classic
  • Acai Zero
  • Classic Zero

Is 28 Black Pricy?

28 Black isn’t pricy. In fact, it’s one of the most affordable energy drinks in the market, costing around €1 to €2 per can.

Note that if you’re buying online, you’ll usually only find 24-pack trays. This is for around €57 to €58, but you can definitely find cheaper ones if you look hard enough.

For some recommendations, here are some sites where you can get the drink:

Since the drink is available internationally, you may be able to save more if you check in with your local retailers first.

28 Black Alternatives

Here are a few alternatives if 28 Black’s taste didn’t pass to your liking:

Conclusion

28 Black earns a 7 out of 10 from me. It’s a good energy drink, but I personally think you find better ones. Nevertheless, this is a brand that I’d recommend to those who are just beginning to get into energy drinks.

Let’s piece it together:

Content-wise, 28 Black definitely has good offers. It’s an all-natural energy drink with no sugar and no fat. It has moderate caffeine, along with low calorie and sodium levels. However, it also has no Protein and relatively low B vitamin contents. Even so, it has Inositol, which is a big plus.

For the taste, the drink also stays at the top of the ranks. With its many flavors, it will take a long time before you ever get sick of the taste.

28 Black is also budget-friendly, one of the qualities that can be hard to achieve by an energy drink.

Overall, my minus points only came from the content. This is a good energy drink for certain people, specifically those who need a light energy boost. But, this may seem lacking if you have heavier needs.
