While caffeine can cause a number of side effects, causing ED isn’t one of them. If you’re concerned about it, I advise you to go to your doctor.

Energy drinks have become extremely popular, everyone is consuming them, even teenagers and young adults, despite the fact that energy drinks are only marketed to adults.

There’re thousands of energy drinks and every one of them includes similar ingredients, however, in different doses, there isn’t a single ingredient that can cause erectile dysfunction.

Nonetheless, energy drinks are known to cause several other side effects, especially when consumed in immoderate amounts, so keep on reading to find out how your chronic and immoderate intake of energy drinks is affecting you.

Does Caffeine Cause Erectile Dysfunction?

Caffeine is used as an active ingredient in energy drinks, and it can increase your mental and physical performance significantly, which will ultimately increase your productivity.

Caffeine hasn’t been proven to cause erectile dysfunction, researchers say that they didn’t find any association, either positive or negative, between total or regular caffeine consumption and erectile dysfunction.

Nonetheless, excessive caffeine ingestion has been linked with other side effects which include:

  • Restlessness and shakiness.
  • Insomnia.
  • Headaches.
  • Dizziness.
  • Fast heart rate.
  • Dehydration.
  • Anxiety.
  • Dependency.

According to the FDA, everyone including teenagers and young adults should limit their caffeine intake to 400 mg or less per day.

Energy drinks include caffeine in large doses because it’s the main source of energy, which is why energy drinks aren’t for everyone.

Caffeine-sensitive people have the hardest time-consuming caffeine or caffeinated energy drinks as they can experience a number of side effects even upon consuming a small dose of caffeine.

Here’s a list of side effects linked with caffeine sensitivity:

Red Bull contains 27 g of sugar and 80 mg of caffeine with 110 calories. While the caffeine content can be justified as Red Bull is an energy drink and caffeine is the main source of energy, the sugar content is high, in fact, it exceeds the daily recommended dose.

Does Caffeine Affect Sexually?

Caffeine has a good and bad side to it

Caffeine is a stimulant that affects you mentally as well as physically, thus caffeine may help you perform better as it increases your physical performance.

In theory, caffeine may help you easily get and keep an erection. In fact, a 2015 study showed a link between caffeine and ED in more than 3,700 men.

The men who consumed 2 to 3 servings of caffeinated beverages daily had a slightly lower rate of ED as compared to those non-coffee consumers.

However, I wouldn’t use this excuse to chug on caffeine because too much caffeine will cause health complications.
