Can You Drink G Fuel Cans Every Day? (Honest Review)

Energy drinks are said to be a good alternative for coffee to give you the boost you need to go through the day’s work.

Like other brands, the G Fuel can is a great way to start off your day. It has many flavors to choose from and even has a powder formula if you want to blend it with ice or a favorite juice drink.

But unlike its powder formula, is it safe to drink G Fuel can every day?

The short answer is yes. According to G Fuel, the maximum daily dosage they recommend is 3 servings. You can begin by having 1 serving a day to get a feel of the drink itself, and then you can increase depending on how much energy you need.

As you can see, the label is pretty straightforward. It tells you exactly how much of everything you can find in a G Fuel can. This is a good reference for making an informed decision about a certain product or brand.

According to the FDA, the recommended daily caffeine limit for adults is 400mg. Any more than that, and you may end up with a caffeine overdose. 

As you might have noticed, 300mg is 75% of your daily limit. 

The extra 100mg isn’t much wiggle room either. 100mg might be enough for an extra cup of coffee, but you have to remember that there are many other sources of caffeine outside energy drinks and coffee.

Caffeine can also be found in some drinks such as:

  • Tea
  • Chocolate 
  • Supplements
  • Soft drinks

So if you’re also prone to consuming lots of any of these (and don’t want to give any of it up), 300mg of caffeine might be too much for you.

And that’s just if you can process that 300mg. If you’re sensitive to caffeine, then even amounts below that might be overkill. It might be advisable to drink only 1 or half a serving of G Fuel a day to avoid severe side effects.

How Long Does a G Fuel Can Last?

According to the official site, a serving of G Fuel kicks in 10-15 minutes after consumption and lasts for 4-6 hours. 

This can be attributed to the caffeine content, since 10-15 minutes is also the amount of time caffeine takes to produce noticeable effects. From there, it slowly works towards its half-life then leaves your bloodstream through your urine. 

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) says that caffeine has an average half-life of 5 hours. A half-life refers to the amount of time it takes for your bloodstream to have only half of the amount of caffeine you started with. 

That means if you drink a can of G Fuel at 4pm, you might feel it at 4:10. Then at 9pm, you’ll have 150mg of the 300mg you originally drank. In the end, you’ll need to wait till 2am for all the caffeine G Fuel gave you to get out of your system. 

Of course, this won’t be the case for everyone who downs a can of G Fuel, or even coffee. How exactly this will work for you depends a lot on how tolerant your body is of caffeine.

In addition, caffeine tolerance and the like is affected by many factors. These vary from your age, metabolism, lifestyle, and even family history of caffeine sensitivity. 

After that, he goes on to talk about what this means for people who drink energy drinks. Basically, despite having many ingredients in common, different formulas have different ingredients that affect everyone differently. 

Is G Fuel Can Safe To Drink?

People who are sensitive to caffeine, have health problems, are minors, or pregnant women should avoid G Fuel and caffeine in general. 

People who are sensitive to caffeine don’t need much of an explanation. Being caffeine sensitive means their bodies are more vulnerable to the side effects. Even just a tiny bit of caffeine can make them jittery, so a high caffeine drink like a G Fuel can really isn’t the best idea. 

Pregnant women might still be able to drink a small amount of caffeine, but most doctors would recommend keeping it at 200mg or below. Even though caffeine could help boost awareness and help with headaches, there are still a lot of risks to continuing to consume it during pregnancy. 

The risks involved in drinking caffeine during pregnancy include:

  • Slower metabolism 
  • Caffeine entering the baby’s bloodstream through the placenta
  • High blood pressure
  • Increased anxiety
  • Dizziness
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea

There’s also evidence that caffeine during pregnancy could be linked to things like lower birth weight and higher risk of miscarriage. However, the studies show mixed results and can’t confirm anything as of the writing. 

Children and adolescents are more sensitive to the side effects of caffeine than adults. They also need more sleep to support their still-growing bodies, so it’s recommended that parents limit their intake as much as possible. 

As far as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is concerned, minors should consume no more than 100mg of caffeine a day.

You can drink G Fuel cans every day. It has 300mg of caffeine, a negligible amount of calories, and no sugar. Although due to its high caffeine content, I definitely wouldn’t recommend having more than one can a day.

G Fuel said it themselves that you’re allowed to have 3 servings a day, provided that you also drink a lot of water to flush it all out.

G Fuel cans are similar to any other energy drink. They need the same amount of time to kick in (10 minutes) for the same reason as any other brand (caffeine). 

Of course, if you happen to be pregnant, a minor, or just generally sensitive to caffeine, I don’t really recommend downing a can of G Fuel every day due the complications that may arise from it.

This is because even if you’re not totally incapable of processing caffeine. G Fuel’s 300mg worth is still way above the norm, so it’s definitely a lot better to be safe than sorry when it comes to caffeinated beverages.

Personally, I suggest only drinking canned G Fuel when you really need the caffeine boost. Otherwise, you should probably grab a lighter energy drink, with G Fuel Powder being a great alternative at only half the caffeine content per serving.
