Is Reign Bad for You?

Energy drinks are rarely healthy, but as you can see with Reign’s nutrition facts, it’s not as bad when compared to energy drinks that have a ton of sugar. One to two cans is the amount that’s you should limit yourself when drinking Reign.

However, just because two cans is okay per day doesn’t mean you should always drink two cans of Reign. Always strive to consume energy drinks like Reign in moderation to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Reign Is High in Caffeine (Bad)

Reign has a lot of caffeine with an astounding amount of 300 mg! The good thing is that it doesn’t exceed the limit of caffeine intake which is 400 mg.

However, you should be aware that you only have 100 mg left, so that means you need to be aware of whether other foods and beverages have caffeine. To help you, some caffeinated products are tea, soda, coffee, and chocolate.

Remember, too much of anything is bad and can lead to serious health problems that are avoidable if you have a healthy body. I’ll further explain how you can live healthier and what alternatives can be consumed besides energy drinks!

Reign Has No Sugar (Slightly Good)

Sugar may be good for our taste buds, but it certainly is bad for our bodies. You may be surprised that fruits and vegetables have sugar, but hold your horses and don’t you worry because those are good sugars or also known as natural sugars.

The sugar you should avoid is added sugar since it doesn’t add any nutritional value to your body. More often than not, added sugars are found in processed foods like candy, cakes, cookies, ice cream, and sugar-sweetened drinks like soft drinks and energy drinks.

These processed foods are quick to digest and are often low in nutrients. Whole foods, on the other hand, have a lot of nutrients and are slower to digest.

What Are the Benefits of Going Sugar-Free?

Fortunately, Reign is sugar-free. That means you don’t have to deal with the adverse effects that sugar brings to your body.

The benefits of going sugar-free are:

  • Fewer headaches.
  • Feeling more energetic.
  • Improved mental state.
  • Fewer mood swings.
  • Weight loss.
  • Healthier skin.

If you’re wondering how energy drinks taste good despite having no sugar, that’s because they contain artificial sweeteners!

Sugar vs Artificial Sweeteners in Energy Drinks

Reign contains artificial sweeteners like acesulfame potassium and sucralose.

The main difference between sugar and artificial sweeteners is that sugar has calories while artificial sweeteners don’t. Ironically, artificial sweeteners are usually 200 to 600 times sweeter than sugar.

The only similarity between sugar and artificial sweeteners is that both are addictive and although artificial sweeteners have no calories, they can make you hungry and eat more which can also lead to bad effects on your health.

Keep in mind that sugar is okay to consume as long as it’s taken in moderation. According to the American Health Association (AHA), men should take no more than 36 g of sugar per day and women should consume only up to 24 g.

Should You Drink Reign Energy Drink Every Day?

No, you shouldn’t drink Reign every day. Despite Reign having no calories and sugar, it has an inordinate amount of caffeine that can result in caffeine tolerance, and you don’t want that.

If you consume that much caffeine every day and then deciding to stop drinking it will make you experience caffeine withdrawal which typically presents itself as headaches, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, depression and anxiety.

Is Reign Energy Drink Healthy?

Energy drinks have little to no nutrition value for your body, their mere purpose is to energize you in a short period of time.

While a lot of energy drinks have a certain amount of vitamins in them, they only function to support your body’s natural energy producing system and does not supply you with energy themselves.

That being said, these vitamins are primarily B vitamins which means you need to get your other micronutrients elsewhere such as in fruit juices. Some energy drinks that claim to be healthy and natural do exist in the market, but you have to do a little bit of hunting to find them.

If you want to drink healthy drinks keep reading as I’ll explain beverages that can be an alternative to Reign or any other energy drinks for that matter.

Negative Effects of Drinking Reign Every Day

As stated earlier, you can drink one to two cans per day, but are you curious on what will happen if you drink energy drinks every single day?

Since every energy drinks has caffeine, drinking every day can lead to:

  • Caffeine Withdrawal
  • Increased heart rate
  • High blood pressure
  • Heart palpitations
  • Insomnia
  • Dehydration
  • Restlessness

Energy drinks are for people that are extreme right? But please don’t go too extreme and try mixing energy drinks with alcohol.

A research paper published in 2015 in the Advances in Nutrition journal found that people who combined energy drinks and alcohol were four times more likely to think they could drive home safely than their counterparts who drank alcohol alone. In addition, a 2014 Journal of Pediatrics study found that mixing the two beverages was associated with binge drinking among teenagers.

Alternative to Energy Drinks

Earlier, I said that you can energize your body without energy drinks. Here are some notable alternatives to energy drinks such as Reign if you don’t want to deal with all that caffeine.

Water

The most obvious yet neglected beverage, water. This drink is vital to your body, it makes your skin healthy, regulates your body temperature, and obviously hydrates you.

Drinking water every day is a no-brainer, but you should still avoid drinking too much of it due to the fact that you may experience water intoxication.

According to Healthline, women should try to drink 2.7 liters of water every day and men should drink 3.7 liters.

Green Tea

Green tea is said to be one of the healthiest beverage, it has health benefits like fat burning, improving brain function, and even reduce bad breath!

Three to five cups of green tea is fair enough for you to reap the benefits, but exceeding that limit can cause stomach problems, diarrhea, and even iron deficiency.

Reign Energy Drink Flavors

If you don’t like drinking the same flavor each and every time, then Reign got you covered! Reign’s energy drink has a variety of flavors that may tickle your fancy, here’s a list showing all of Reign’s flavored energy drinks:

  1. Cherry Limeade
  2. White Gummy Bear
  3. Lilikoi Lychee
  4. Melon Mania
  5. Sour Apple
  6. Carnival Candy
  7. Razzle Berry
  8. Orange Dreamsicle
  9. Strawberry Sublime
  10. Mang-O-Matic
  11. Lemon Hdz
  12. Peach Fizz
  13. Watermelon Warlord
  14. Jalapeño Strawberry
  15. Red Dragon
  16. True Blu

Conclusion

Reign has some positives and negatives, but the positives seem to outweigh the negatives this time, only because this brand has zero sugar.

One concerning thing I like to point out, as I do with most energy drinks, is Reign’s caffeine content, which is slightly problematic. With over 300 mg per serving, Reign has way too much caffeine.

The risk for caffeine overdose is so much higher with amounts higher than 100 mg and you could easily suffer from the usual symptoms: headaches, jittery hands, insomnia, heart palpitations.

Moreover, to you regular coffee-drinkers out there, consuming a lot of caffeine makes your body tolerant to it which means you’ll increasingly need higher and higher doses of caffeine to feel its energy boosting effects.

Also you only need to consume around 150 mg of caffeine for it to be effective, so 300 mg is a bit of an overkill. But I suppose it is to be expected especially since Reign is so popular with the gym rats.

Be that as it may, caffeine is a double edged sword, so drink wisely and never consume more than one can a day.
