Does Reign Actually Work? (Analysis)

When it comes to boosting your workout performance, Reign energy drink is something you should have in mind.

The problem about energy drinks is that the amount of sugar and calories that it contains raises the concern of many people, but Reign found a way to provide energy drinks that solves that problem.

Reign’s energy drinks surprisingly have little to no calories and don’t contain any artificial flavors/colors nor sugar, and yes it’s sugar-free.

Does Reign Actually Work?

That may sound astounding, but the big question is whether Reign delivers its promise to give the energy we long for in our daily lives?

The quick answer is yes, Reign certainly works! It has a lot of caffeine which is sufficient for your daily activities (and exercise for that matter). Reign also has some unique ingredients such as BCAAs, CoQ10, electrolytes, and many more that I will explicitly discuss later on.

So without further ado, let’s make it Reign (rain) with knowledge!

What is Reign?

It’s an energy drink that’s considered to be the ultimate fitness-focused beverage designed for people who lead an active lifestyle.

According to Reign Total Body Fuel, their energy drinks help athletes burn calories, accelerate metabolism, and improve recovery.

As you can see, their target market is people who often exercise or do a lot of physical activities, which makes sense given the fact that the energy drink has little to no calories (depending on the flavor).

Is Reign Body Fuel Good for You?

It has zero calories and zero sugar, that means Reign must be good for you right?

If you’re talking about whether Reign is a good energy drink for you then yes! However, you should keep in mind that one can of Reign is enough for the day since it contains 300 mg of caffeine

Drinking more than can of Reign a day means that you’re consuming 600 mg of caffeine, which exceeds the recommended intake of caffeine which is no more than 400 mg.

Overconsumption of caffeine can lead to side effects like:

  • Insomnia
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Rapid or abnormal heart rhythm
  • Dehydration
  • Anxiety
  • Caffeine withdrawal
  • Jittery

Also, any energy drink out there are not really healthy. Energy drinks contain added sugar which will deteriorate the health of your body

However, even though Reign has no sugar, it does contain artificial sweeteners which have their fair share of disadvantages such as weight gain.

BCAAs

To make thousands of different proteins in your body, 20 amino acids are needed. Nine of these 20 amino acids are considered essential and are only obtained through your diet since your body cannot make these essential amino acids.

Out of these nine essentials, there are three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) which are called leucine, isoleucine, and valine.

The reason why it’s stated as a “branched-chain” is because it refers to a chemical structure of BCAAs that are found in protein-rich products like meat, egg, and dairy products. BCAAs can also be a supplement which is usually sold in powdered form.

You can actually reap a lot of benefits with BCAAs which makes a lot of sense on why it’s perfect for people who workout. The benefits of taking BCAAs are:

  • Increase Muscle Growth
  • Decrease Muscle Soreness
  • Reduce Exercise Fatigue
  • Prevent Muscle Wasting
  • Benefit People With Liver Disease

According to Healthline, the recommended intake for BCAAs are between 15 – 35 g per day. There are 1000 mg (or 1 g) in a single can of Reign, so it’s safe to say that overconsumption of BCAAs in an energy drink like Reign is unlikely to happen.

Coenzyme Q-10

This is a nutrient that naturally occurs in your body and it can also be seen in a lot of foods that you eat. It plays an important role in metabolism and acts as an antioxidant that protects your cells from being damaged.

Coenzyme Q-10 can be found in foods like chicken, beef, pork, broccoli, soybeans, spinach, sardines, soybeans, whole grains, and organ meats (kidney or liver).

According to WebMD, healthy people naturally often have enough coenzyme Q-10 yet adding supplements (in the form of coenzyme Q-10) can be beneficial. It’s been associated that as you age and have certain medical conditions/health problems, you’re coenzyme Q-10 starts to decrease.

If you’re wondering how coenzyme Q-10 benefits your body, here’s a list of its benefits:

  • Improves Heart Health
  • Reduces Migraines
  • Could Help with Fertility
  • Can Make Your Skin Look Young
  • Could Help with Exercise Performance
  • Could Help with Diabetes
  • Might Play a Role in Cancer Prevention
  • Good for the Brain
  • Could Protect the Lungs

There is no established ideal dose of CoQ10. Studies have used doses of CoQ10 ranging from 50 milligrams to 1,200 milligrams in adults, sometimes split into several doses over the course of a day. A typical daily dose is 100 milligrams to 200 milligrams. Follow the instructions on the bottle or get advice from your doctor or a dietitian. Keep in mind that different supplement brands might have different ingredients and strengths.

Electrolytes

An umbrella term used for particles that carries a positive and negative electric charge is electrolytes. It’s an essential mineral that can be found in your sweat, blood, and urine. Examples of electrolytes in your body are sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium, phosphate, and bicarbonate.

What Does Reign Do To Your Body?

It’s pretty self-explanatory that energy drinks give you energy, but how can they do that and what does an energy drink do to your body?

The energy that energy drinks give you is short-lived, meaning they give you a temporary boost throughout the day. This is perfect if you’re driving late and you don’t want to feel tired nor sleepy. Students can also benefit from energy drinks when they study for exams or doing projects that need to be passed.

Energy drinks are able to do all of these wonderful things for you due to an ingredient named caffeine. This ingredient acts as an adenosine receptor antagonist or an adenosine blocker which simply means that it prevents you from feeling drowsy/sleepy.

Given that Reign has 300mg of caffeine present per 16 fl.oz serving, it’s safe to say that the drink can definitely give you the boost you need, but be sure not to have too much of it, given that the FDA does limit you to 400mg a day.

Is Reign a Good Pre-Workout Drink?

Drinking energy drinks before working out is not a good idea, this is because energy drinks only give you a little bit of energy boost throughout the day and are often used for people who don’t want to feel sleep or tired like drivers who work late in the night.

Energy drinks have caffeine and taurine which is beneficial for exercising, but energy drinks shouldn’t be replaced with sports drinks that have electrolytes. With sport drinks, it can provide energy as well and you can replace what you lost during your physical activities.

It’s been recommended by experts to drink a caffeinated beverage 45-90 minutes before taking an exercise.

Studies have stated that cognitive functions can improve due to energy drinks and that the right amount of caffeine before a workout may improve your physical performance. I emphasized the right amount of caffeine since too much of it can lead to side effects.

However, the best beverage you can take is water, and I highly suggest it for everyone.

Conclusion

So as you can see, Reign really does live up to its promises; the ingredients back up a lot of the product claims and many athletes seem to enjoy it as a preworkout.

If you’re a gym-goer as well or looking to lose weight, Reign may be an excellent option that can guarantee you don’t consume more sugar than you need throughout the day.

However, try it for yourself to see if it’s really all it’s cracked up to be, because no amount of testimony can substitute for personal experience.

But beware, if you drink more than one can a day, your chances of getting a caffeine overdose will be increased and having headaches or anxiety isn’t exactly conducive to a workout.

So drink responsibly and monitor your caffeine intake when you drink Reign.
