Emerge has seen a remarkable rise in popularity over the past decade, significantly since it extended its variety of flavours in 2011.
The drink contains a sufficient 75mg of caffeine in each of its 250mL cans. While this amount is lower than that of most other energy drink brands, this opens a whole new audience of Emerge consumers whom only a few brands serve.

Emerge contains 75mg of caffeine in a 250mL (8.4 fl. oz) can. The daily caffeine consumption limit suggested for healthy adults is 400mg.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; if you’re only looking for a light boost or are only getting into energy drinks and want to take baby steps, Emerge is the right choice!
Sugar in Emerge
If there is one domain that Emerge doesn’t lack, it is the quantity of sugar!
One 250mL can holds 11.2 grams of sugar. Emerge uses a blend of both complex and artificial sweeteners; this includes Inositol as a naturally sourced sugar and Aspartame and Acesulfame Potassium as artificial sweeteners.
So if you have a sweet tooth to satisfy, go for Emerge!
Calorie Content of Emerge
One thing that you don’t have to worry about after drinking Emerge is gaining weight. Every 250mL drink has only 53 calories present.
The daily recommended intake for men is 2,500, and for women, the amount is 2,000 calories per day.
If you regularly eat healthy foods, have a balanced diet, and carry out light exercises now and then, this shouldn’t affect you one bit.
Is Emerge Healthy?
Emerge isn’t exactly healthy, but that doesn’t mean it is bad for you either, as long as you don’t misuse it, that is.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has guidelines that state a 400mg caffeine limit per day; this roughly relates to four cans of Emerge.
The sugar amount is also well within the daily capacity an average adult should have. The NHS recommends you have no more than 30g of sugar per day, which amounts to almost three Emerge drinks.
You should always aim to keep this amount as low as possible because, most likely, you are intaking caffeine and sugar from other sources as well.
I recommend not having more than two cans of Emerge per day, and make sure you only take Emerge when you need to.

Emerge can be consumed for a variety of reasons. If you’ve slept late at night and need to be somewhere early in the morning, Emerge will do that for you.
Energy drinks also reduce mental fatigue, so if you’re tired after a long day of work, take Emerge, and you will see an immediate energy boost.

If you have two or more cans per day and constantly depend upon Emerge to get you out of your bed, caffeine addiction can be developed pretty quickly.

Consumption of Emerge at irregular intervals each day can cause you to have a hard time falling asleep.
The following symptoms can characterize insomnia:

- Regular pattern of staying up unable to sleep.
Anxiety is another significant side effect most caffeine users experience.
Anxiety causes individuals to feel jittery and nervous, mainly due to caffeine’s ability to stimulate your fight or flight response.
Anxiety can be identified if you experience the following:
- Feeling nervous, tense, or restless.
- Having sense of impending danger.
- An increased heart rate.
Caffeine present in Emerge may stimulate your gastrointestinal tract.
Emerge might cause a series of issues ranging from diarrhoea, stomach pain, and nausea. If you’re going through any of these, immediately stop all consumption of caffeine.
Can You Drink Emerge Everyday?
You can drink Emerge every day as long as you don’t overdo it.
While two cans maximum in a day is safe for you, I recommend only having one to be safe and avoid dependency.

If you have several drinks of Emerge consecutively or within 24 hours, there is a high possibility that you might experience a caffeine overdose.

Emerge drinks come in five different categories. Some of these have further sub-categories with more variations of flavours.
These different versions are given below.
This is the original flavour the brand launched with. Its ratio of flavour and fizziness is perfectly balanced, not too much and not too little.
It comes in a 250mL can or 1 Litre bottle, which is great value for your money.
As the name suggests, this variant has zero sugar and only ten calories in a 250mL can.
Like the original flavour, Emerge Zero also comes in either a 250mL can or a 1 Litre bottle.
Emerge Juice Berry
This is a mixed berry flavour with a combination of various sharp tangs. I also found this version to be delightful.
Although this flavour contains the same amount of sugar and artificial sweeteners as others, the flavour seems to add to the drink’s sweetness.
Unlike the previous two flavours, the juicy berry only comes in a 250mL can and does not have a larger bottle.
This category of Emerge is specially geared towards athletes and other sports enthusiasts.
This category comes with a further five different flavours, these are:
- Mixed Berry
- Tropical Berry
I only got the chance to try the orange flavour from the sports section, and it didn’t exactly appeal to me a lot; that could be because I am naturally not a fan of orange flavoured drinks.
I do appreciate that the line expanded its fruity flavours to cater to more tastes. All the flavours in the sports section are available in 500mL bottles.

If Emerge isn’t the right drink for you, there are plenty of suitable options. Here are my favourites!
Emerge caters to all kinds of audiences; its low caffeinated drinks are suitable for teenagers and adults alike.
But they do not let competitors take the lead; their sports variant comes in a 500mL bottle and has a more immense amount of caffeine.
Out of all the flavours, my personal favourite was the original. While the others have their ups and downs, the drink’s first and most widely sold flavours charm was just something else.
