Bang Energy has made its mark across the globe with its infamous energy drink. You’ve definitely come across Bang in supermarkets and convenience stores, maybe you’ve even tried them before.
With 300mg of caffeine, Bang certainly packs a powerful punch.
But does it actually work? How long does Bang Energy last?
A quick answer: Bang Energy can last up to 4-5 hours depending on your caffeine metabolism and tolerance.
Of course, this depends on you as an individual and varies from one person to another. If you want to know more, stick around as I explore everything about Bang, from its ingredients to how well Bang works as an energy drink.

How Much Caffeine Is In Bang Energy Drink?
Each 16 fl.oz can of Bang Energy Drink contains 300mg of caffeine, making it one of the strongest energy drinks available in the market.
Caffeinated beverages like energy drinks are also great for when you’re driving long distances and you need something to keep you awake. A study conducted on prolonged driving over 6 hours reported that the ingestion of Red Bull reduced driver sleepiness and significantly enhanced driving performance.
Bang can provide all the aforementioned benefits as it has more than enough caffeine present. However, as beneficial as this stimulant may be, caffeine isn’t something you should have in large quantities at a time.
- Restlessness and shakiness
- Rapid or abnormal heart rhythm
With 300mg of caffeine, Bang comes close to hitting the daily caffeine limit, so it’s best to stick to only a can of Bang per day.
You must also take note of the warning label at the back of the can and avoid having other caffeine-containing products alongside Bang.
The best way you can avoid adverse effects is by having Bang (and other energy drinks for that matter) in moderation and staying within the daily caffeine limit.
What Artificial Sweeteners Are In Bang?
The artificial sweetener that’s in Bang Energy drink is sucralose. Sucralose is a non-nutritive sweetener that functions as a flavor enhancer for our everyday food and drink products. Aside from having zero calories, sucralose maintains its sweetness without triggering a rise in blood sugar levels.
As sucralose has neither calories nor carbs, Bang makes weight control easier especially if you’re on a diet. If you lead an active lifestyle, Bang would be a great complement for you as it’ll supply you with tons of energy without the extra calories.
Besides that, if you’re worried about the safety of sucralose, don’t be, because sucralose is one of the FDA’s-approved high-intensity sweeteners that are deemed safe for general use and consumption.
But it’s important to remember that sucralose must still be consumed in moderation as its long-term effects remain inconclusive. If you find yourself consistently craving something sweet, try opting for fresh fruits instead of sweet treats that have sucralose or regular sugar.

What Does COQ10 Do?
COQ10, or officially known as coenzyme Q10, is a type of naturally produced compound that creates energy for your cells. It’s also an antioxidant and plays an important role in protecting your cells from oxidative damage.
One of the benefits of COQ10 is enhancing exercise performance by reducing oxidative stress on the muscles. A 2010 study found that COQ10 supplementation leads to an increase in power during repeated bouts of exercise.
I assume that’s the reason why COQ10 is included among the ingredients within Bang Energy. However, the precise amount of COQ10 isn’t stated, thus it’s pretty difficult to know if Bang has enough of it to actually benefit you.
My advice: don’t depend on your daily can of Bang for your supply of COQ10, instead get it through supplements.
Does Bang Actually Have Creatine?
To tell you the truth, I’m not sure myself. I’m not sure anyone does besides of course Bang themselves.
The subject of whether Bang Energy drinks really have creatine or not has been debated over and over again, but there hasn’t been a conclusive answer to that question until today.
If you’re a little lost, let me explain.
Every Bang Energy drink contains Super Creatine, and it’s even stated on the ingredients label. According to VPX, Bang’s company, Super Creatine is supposedly the world’s only water-stable creatine and apparently breaks down into creatine once ingested.
VPX has been involved in several lawsuits before, one in particular filed by Thermolife International, LLC. Thermolife International, LLC claimed that Super Creatine is actually a false advertisement and that there isn’t actually creatine present in Bang.
An official statement refuting or addressing this matter has never been released by VPX (or I have yet to find it), thus whether Thermolife’s findings of Super Creatine is true or not remains a mystery.
It’s best to take this piece of information with a pinch of salt, Bang is a great energy drink but perhaps it’s better not to expect too much of the Super Creatine claims.
How Long Does Bang Take To Kick In?
It takes around 10 minutes for the caffeine in Bang Energy to kick in. Due to its high caffeine content, it doesn’t take long for Bang Energy to kick in after consumption.
After about 10 minutes of consumption, the caffeine in Bang Energy will enter your bloodstream and take effect by causing a rise in blood pressure and heart rate. Caffeine also affects the brain, triggering the release of adrenaline in your body.
After between 15 to 45 minutes, the caffeine in the bloodstream will reach peak levels. In turn, this will lead to an increase in alertness and improved mental concentration.
It’s also around this time that you’ll get random bursts of energy and feel a little restless from the adrenaline pumping through your system. This is also the best time for you to be doing your workouts, revision, and other physically- or cognitively-demanding tasks.
When Does Bang Wear Off?
According to this study, the effects of Bang will start to wear off after around 5 hours for healthy adults.
Caffeine has a half-life of 5 hours, which means that if you consume 300mg of caffeine from Bang, there’ll still be 150mg left in your body after 5 hours have passed. On average, it takes around 12 hours or more for the caffeine that you consume through Bang to be completely removed from your bloodstream.
If your body naturally metabolizes caffeine quickly, the effects of Bang will wear off faster than someone with a low caffeine metabolism. Similarly, if you’re just starting to drink caffeinated beverages, you’ll feel the effects much more strongly compared to a veteran caffeine drinker.
You should also avoid drinking Bang close to your bedtime as caffeine can keep you awake for a long time and ruin your good night’s rest.
A 2013 study actually advises avoiding having caffeine around 6 hours before bedtime as doing so could reduce your total sleep time by one hour, decreasing the quality of your sleep.
So while Bang no doubt does its job well and can last for quite some time, you should know your body’s limits and stay within the recommended daily caffeine guideline to avoid any side effects.
How do you know if a Bang is expired?
A sour taste, discoloration, and an off odor are signs that the Bang energy drink has expired. Aside from that, most energy drink cans or packaging include a printed expiration date.
Besides the difference in taste and loss of effectiveness, an expired energy drink poses health risks. It could lead to bowel discomfort or worse, food poisoning
Does Bang Make You Crash?
Bang won’t lead to a sugar crash as it’s sugar-free, but you’re likely to get a caffeine crash once the effects of Bang have worn off if you’re not a seasoned caffeine drinker.
Caffeine works by stimulating your brain and nervous system, increasing alertness, focus, and cognition while delaying the symptoms of fatigue at the same time. After these stimulating effects wear off, it’s normal for you to feel less alert and focus.
However, if you experience symptoms like extreme tiredness, headaches, irritability, or the inability to concentrate, it’s a sign of a caffeine crash.
But this also depends on the kind of caffeine consumer you are, how often you consume caffeine and when you choose to have your caffeine fix.
Experiencing a crash after drinking Bang is also possible if you used Bang to pull an all-nighter to help you stay awake. Since caffeine blocks adenosine receptors, which are sleep-regulating transmitters, once the effects of Bang wear off, these receptors will flood your brain and make you feel extremely fatigued.
Fortunately, there are a number of ways to avoid a caffeine crash:
- Spread out your caffeine consumption throughout the day
- Get enough sleep/rest
- Drink lots of water
- Avoid having caffeinated beverages on an empty stomach
Do you need an ID for Bang energy?
Bang Energy drinks do not contain alcohol, so you do not need to present an ID when purchasing them. Despite the fact that there are no age restrictions, minors or children are not recommended to purchase the drink.
The caffeine content of energy drinks, in particular, should be avoided by lactating and pregnant women. Additionally, it is not advisable to consume energy drinks if you are immuno compromised so it is best to consult your physician first and keep an open mind for healthier beverage options.
Alternatives To Bang Energy Drink
Bang Energy is a great energy drink, but it’s quite high in caffeine and might not be suitable if you have a low caffeine tolerance. Here are some tasty and effective alternatives that go lighter on the caffeine:
- Red Bull
- Mountain Dew Kickstart
- Xtend Energy
- 3D Energy
- AMP Energy
- Full Throttle
To sum it up, the effects of Bang Energy can last for several hours depending on your caffeine metabolism and tolerance toward caffeine. Since Bang contains large amounts of caffeine, you’ll feel the effects quite immediately but consequently, it may take a longer period for your body to eliminate the caffeine.
Bang’s high caffeine content makes it unsuitable for pregnant and nursing women and people with pre-existing medical conditions to have this energy drink as it could cause negative effects to them.
If your body breaks down caffeine slowly, the effects of Bang will also last much longer for you. Likewise, if you have a high tolerance toward caffeine, you may not feel the effects as intensely and it’ll last for a shorter time too.
The most important thing you should make sure of is to moderate your daily intake of Bang to avoid having too much of this drink and going over the daily caffeine limit.
