How Many Mother Energy Drinks Can You Drink in a Day? (Answered)

Mother has been making its name around Australia and New Zealand. Its unique flavours and high caffeine content is something to keep an eye on if it’s right up to your doorstep. Curious how much Mother is too much daily?

As a result of the rather high sugar content, you should probably limit your consumption to one can per day for health reasons. For the sugar-free version of Mother, drinking two cans a day may also be pushing it.

How’d I come up with this answer?

Read on to find out.

Mother Energy Drink Ingredients

Before concluding how many Mother Energy Drinks are safe in a day, it is important to look at the ingredients first. Mother has two particular ingredients that caught my attention – taurine and guarana extract.

How Many Calories in Mother Energy Drink?

Mother Original contains 228 calories per 500 ml while the sugar-free version contains only 23 kcal per 500 ml.

The Sugar-Free version of Mother Energy is perfect for those on a diet since it only contains 23 calories, which is one-tenth of the Original. The flavours are just as delicious as the Original too!

However, I would recommend you try Mother Energy Original if you do not mind giving up a few hours of burning calories for a sugar rush. I prefer the original version more as I find it very filling.

Plus there’s basically no difference when it comes to the alternative’s caffeine level.

Be careful not to consume too many high-calorie energy drinks and keep in mind your limitations. Healthy adults are recommended to consume no more than the daily calorie limit of:

  • 2000-2400 kcal for women
  • 2400-3000 calories for men

The 228 calories in Mother Energy can easily put you over your daily limit of calories if combined with the food and beverages you consume, so keep a record of how many calories you consume daily.

This is why the sugar-free variant exists – to allow another scope of consumers to try Mother energy drinks!

If you’re still keen on strictly adhering to your diet but craves the buzz of carbonated beverages, I made an article about the best no-calorie energy drinks in the market.

How Much Sugar is in Mother Energy Drink?

The original flavour of Mother-Energy Original contains 51g of sugar in 500ml, while the sugar-free version has none.

I was a little concerned about the 51g of sugar in just one can of Mother Energy Original but I highly applaud Mother Energy for including a sugar-free version. On days where I like to increase my energy but dread the taste of artificial sugar, this version is a life-saver.

The AHA recommends that adults consume no more than 36g of sugar a day, you need to rethink before consuming Mother Energy Original.

Mother Energy Original definitely boosts your energy levels, but its high sugar content also leaves you with a crash afterwards, in part due to a sharp drop in blood sugar levels.

Consuming too much sugar in your diet is extremely hazardous for your health as it can cause :

If you want a short boost of energy, then Mother Energy Original is the one to have, but not if you need energy for a long time.

Is it okay to drink 2 energy drinks in one day?

Constantly reaching for energy drinks to combat fatigue is tempting, but it’s not a good idea, according to experts. Having more than one energy drink per day is not recommended for healthy people, and it should be avoided entirely by kids.

If you go over the limit, you risk consuming an unhealthy amount of sugar, which may be dangerous. Furthermore, the negative consequences of high caffeine consumption, such as headaches, and sleeplessness, may become noticeable after consuming more than the recommended number of energy drinks daily.

How much energy drink is safe?

You should avoid drinking too much caffeine and should restrict your consumption of energy drinks and other caffeinated beverages to no more than 16 ounces (473 ml) of energy drink per day.

Caffeine in large doses has been linked to arrhythmias, hypertension, and other significant cardiac and circulatory issues.

How long does energy drinks last?

Your body won’t have enough caffeine in a few hours to noticeably enhance your energy levels. Therefore, energy drinks do indeed last for a few hours, but their peak effectiveness lasts for little more than an hour or two at most.

Accordingly, the dangers increase when more than the recommended amount is consumed all at once. This may put your health at risk due to apparent caffeine toxicity, which can lead to irregular heartbeats, high blood pressure, shaking hands, and other signs of a stroke.

How Much Caffeine is In Mother Energy Drink?

The Mother Energy Original contains 160 mg of caffeine per 500 ml can. The Mother Energy Sugar-Free version contains 159mg of caffeine per 500 ml can.

Although it’s not the strongest energy drink out there, Mother still packs quite a punch when it comes to caffeine. I would consider it as something that belongs in the upper-middle tier when it comes to the buzz it provides.

Whether in a drink or a pill, caffeine aids in improving energy, reducing fatigue, and enhancing mental performance. Caffeine is a key ingredient in Mother that keeps you alert and improves your reaction time.

However, it still should be consumed within a reasonable limit. The FDA recommends a caffeine consumption limit of 400mg to avoid any serious caffeine overdosing side effects.

Mother Energy Drink has a hefty dose of caffeine per serving, which is slightly more than your average cup of coffee. I could consider this as one of the strongest drinks on the shelf.

Some unpleasant side-effects of consuming excessive caffeine are:

It is ideal for me to have energy drinks containing a little less caffeine to avoid experiencing any side effects, so I prefer drinks containing just 50mg to 100mg.

Still, every person has a different caffeine tolerance. I would just recommend not exceeding the set daily limit.

Is Mother Energy Drink Good For Health?

It has an unhealthy amount of caffeine and sugar, which could negatively affect your health if consumed in excess. Although Mother Energy gives you a boost of energy and helps you burn the midnight oil, it does have a downside.

Your success is determined by the way you adapt to the drink and what you drink it for. When it comes to everyday energy drinks, it’s not the best option. But if you want it every now and then, it’s fine.

Mother Energy is a good option for boosting short-term concentration and focus.

You should be fine to indulge in Mother Energy Drink from time to time as long as you lead a healthy lifestyle and sipping only when necessary is fine.

How Many Mother Energy Drinks Can I Have a Day?

The number of cans to drink in a day majorly depends on which variant of Mother you are consuming. The limits for both are mentioned below:

Original

To give your body a break every now and then, I recommend only drinking one 500ml can of Original Mother Energy Drink a day.

The recommended sugar limit for a 500 ml can of Mother is 30 grams, so you can imagine how consuming more than one would be harmful to your health over the long term.

There is an alternative to Original Mother Energy Drink for those who like its taste but still are conscious about their health, which comes in a smaller 250ml can that is half as sweet and half as caffeine (25g and 80g respectively).

If you’re someone who works during marathon work sessions, I’m sure you’ll get the same energy boost from the reduced potency can!

Sugar-Free

Having two 500mL Sugar-Free Mother Energy Drinks a day is my recommendation, but only if you need the extra boost. Having one should usually suffice.

The back of the can suggests that you shouldn’t consume more than one can per day because there are a lot of B group vitamins in this product, which is not healthy when excessively consumed.

I think it’s a good idea to stick to those guidelines, but definitely don’t have more than two in a day since you’ll be getting too much caffeine and B group vitamins.

Considering Mother Energy Drink Sugar Free version does not contain sugar, the caffeine content is the only ingredient to track. It is possible to drink 2 of them without experiencing caffeine overdose at 160mg per 500ml can.

You must however be aware that everyone reacts differently to caffeine, so don’t go guzzling two cans back-to-back until you know what your caffeine limit is.

Conclusion

I’d recommend no more than a can of both Mother Energy Original and Mother Energy Sugar- Free in a day. Any more than this and you risk yourself on caffeine overdose or vitamin toxicity (although rarely!).

Mother Energy Original contains 160 mg of caffeine and 51 g of sugar. These numbers are quite high if we look at the daily recommended values.

Similarly Mother Energy Sugar-Free contains 159 mg of caffeine and zero grams of sugar which is also not healthy.
