With their 10 exciting flavor lineup, you won’t even be experiencing a shortage of choices when you enjoy this famous beverage. You might even be excited about the idea of tasting each variety to find out which one is your all-time favorite.

Stick right here with me to know more about the Science behind Xyience and why moderation is important to fully enjoy this energy drink.

Overview: Xyience Energy Drinks

Xyience started its journey as a fitness supplement brand in Las Vegas, way back in 2004. They aimed to provide world-class supplements for gym sharks eager to buff up and stock up some muscles.

The Xenergy drink lineup quickly became a hit through massive exposures to different MMA major events. However, the brand hit a slump a few years down the line.

Xyience gained a second wind when Austin-based beverage company Big Red Inc. took over the reins and improved the brand by leaps and bounds.

With better leaders, it has risen in reputation more than their initial glory days! The Xenergy lineup has been re-vamped into Xyience Energy drinks that filled the aisles of grocery chains.

Here’s a timely article that’ll help you satiate your curiosity about each energy drink component in depth

Caffeine in Xyience

The ingredient section of this beverage shows that the caffeine content of Xyience hits 88mg per 8 fl. oz. Too little? Well, double the servings mean double the power!

Each can contains 16 fl. oz. Thus, Xyience Energy drinks have 176 milligrams of caffeine. Among the present beverages in the market, it belongs in the upper tiers of caffeine content.

While it does not immediately fill the daily caffeine intake limit of about 400mg, I recommend drinking it in moderation. However, more on that topic later.

This carbonated drink’s caffeine mainly comes from Guarana seed extracts. Used widely by most energy drink brands, guarana seeds have more benefits besides improving focus and fatigue. Here are some of its advantages:

  • Rich in antioxidants and effective in minimizing free radicals
  • Boosts brain activity and helps process information better
  • Promotes weight loss
  • Have anti-cancer properties and improves heart health

The remaining part of caffeine in Xyience is probably synthetic. Whatever the case is, we are sure that this drink belongs to the higher-mid range arena in terms of caffeine.

Though it doesn’t fulfill the caffeine intake limit, it will give you enough boost to survive the whole day.

Vitamins in Xyience

Xyience Energy Drinks are enriched with Vitamin B5, B3, B6 & B12. However, unlike other notable brands in the industry, this energy drink doesn’t have Vitamin C.

Calcium D Pantothenate is a water-soluble Vitamin B5. It is found in plants as well as animal tissue. It is widely used in consumable products for its multiple benefits.

Vitamin B5 helps your body to break down carbohydrates, protein, and some fatty acids. It is also involved in the synthesis of cholesterol, steroid hormones, and hemoglobin.

Vitamin B3 or Niacinamide can be very beneficial for your skin and hair. Some (including me!) think that it is the same as niacin. However, I’ve learned that niacin and niacinamide are not the same Vitamin B3.

Niacinamide helps your body to build keratin. It helps your skin retain moisture by creating a lipid barrier and will greatly benefit people with acne and other skin problems. If you take niacin-infused consumables, your body can convert them to niacinamide.

Pyridoxine Hydrochloride is a form of Vitamin B6. It is responsible for the regulation of enzymatic activities and as a synthesis agent of amino acids. Creating red blood cells, improving neural health, and maintaining blood glucose is something this vitamin is an expert of!

Vitamin B12 or Cyanocobalamin is a man-made source of B12. You can find a sufficient amount of it in your regular diet, and it is vital for metabolic health. It is also important for creating blood cells, maintaining the health of your nerve cells, and it prevents low blood levels of Vitamin B.

Artificial Sweeteners in Xyience

Instead of using regular sugar, Xyience uses a blend of artificial sweeteners Acesulfame Potassium and Sucralose.

Acesulfame potassium, known as Ace-K, is a chemical sweetener 200 times sweeter than sugar.

It works by deceiving the taste buds in the tongue and making the consumer enjoy sweetness without the added calories! This sweetener is not absorbed by the body as it has literally no nutritional value.

Sucralose is a famous sugar substitute, especially for those suffering from diabetes. Classified as a high-intensity sweetener, it is 600 times more potent than sugar.

Known in the market as Splenda, this substitute is a crowd favorite by companies and people alike due to its no-calorie property.

Being advertised as no-sugar doesn’t mean it’s healthy. There are multiple reports and research that Ace-K can be harmful. According to studies, it is responsible for headaches, depression, mental stress, and nausea.

And it doesn’t mean that it’s zero-calorie that you won’t get addicted to it either, so take it easy!

How Much Xyience Can you Drink in a Day?

Yup, I can still consider Xyience a healthy beverage, especially considering that the market is teeming with risky ones. Still, I would not advise you to drink more than one can of Xyience per day.

While it may contain vitamin B and other beneficial ingredients such as TaurineL-Carnitine, and L-Theanine, it still doesn’t mean that you can drink it as much as you want! Though I’d like to, considering its whole range of flavors that I fully enjoy.

It may be far-fetched to consider Xyience as a totally non-calorie energy drink and may contain 15 to 20 calories. This is not much and not even a cause of concern – it’s like eating a medium tomato or half a cucumber!

One particular concern of mine is the caffeine part. One can of Xyience contains 176mg of caffeine, which I consider among the higher mid-range when it comes to the energy drinks I’ve tried.

While it is well below the 400mg per day limit, I don’t think it’s totally safe because we consume a few more caffeine unconsciously in our everyday diet.

How Much Caffeine Can you Take in a Day?

The body can only properly process about 400mg of caffeine daily. Any more than that can yield negative effects. Just take a look at this video on how caffeine functions in the body:

Caffeine Explained

Simply put, imagine caffeine as a cork that blocks the bottle of tiredness from spilling. When the brain releases adenosine which is a neurotransmitter that promotes rest and sleep, caffeine works by blocking this certain effect.

You won’t feel fatigued, tiredness, and sleepiness for a short time until caffeine wears off, which occurs after three to five hours. However, overconsumption of caffeine will make you feel awake for an extended time. These are signs of caffeine overdose.

Side Effects of Caffeine

If you take too much caffeine, you will feel a lot of unwanted changes in your body. The first thing that you will feel is a lack of sleep or insomnia.

On top of that, regular consumption of excessive caffeine will increase short and long term health complications like:

  • Restlessness
  • Abnormal Heart Rhythm
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Anxiety
  • Caffeine addiction
  • Death (which rarely happens!)

Can Children and Pregnant Women Drink Energy Drinks?

Nope, Energy drinks are NOT allowed for children, pregnant and lactating women.

First off, children are not ideal for caffeine intake. A recent study has discovered that early caffeine intake among children leads to anxiety issues.

Since their bodies are also not on optimal growth, they will also feel the effects more severely. Being sluggish more than usual, sickness, nausea, and insomnia are some of the health risks of caffeine in children.

A recent study has disclosed that excessive caffeine consumption during pregnancy can lead to miscarriage and other life-threatening complications.

Can I have 3 Xyience energy drinks in a day?

Experts recommend that healthy individuals consume no more than one 12-ounce can of an energy drink per day due to the drinks’ high levels of synthetic caffeine, sugar, and other components.

That’s why the dangers increase when you ingest more than the recommended amount all at once. This may put your body at risk from what seems to be caffeine poisoning, which can lead to irregular heartbeats, high blood pressure, shaking hands, and other signs of a stroke. These may all be potentially lethal.

How long do energy drinks stay in your body?

Although it depends on the person, the average time it takes for the body to flush caffeine out of the system is 12 hours.

In addition, it takes your body 5-6 hours to eliminate 50% of the caffeine from your system. To get the same effect, birth control pills for women need to be twice as long. The average amount of time it takes for your body to completely rid itself of caffeine.

What happens if I drink Xyience energy drinks every day?

Heart arrhythmias, migraines, high blood pressure, and anxiety have all been linked to excessive or chronic intake of Xyience energy beverages.

The wide range of health issues that energy drinks are linked to is not hard to discern. Even while the added sugar in energy drinks may help you stay awake for a little time, they ultimately lead to weight gain, insulin resistance, diabetes, and tooth damage.

Is Xyience Vegan?

One concern for vegans when it comes to energy drinks is the ingredients used. Still, I can assure you that Xyience is entirely vegan-friendly

Xyience is a very versatile energy drink that everyone can consume as long as they do not belong in the exception categories. It can even cater to vegan and keto lifestyles, which makes it an all-purpose carbonated thirst quencher.

Its caffeine content is found naturally through different sources, and the sugars are fully artificial. This leaves the coloring part, which Xyience is entirely guilt-free!

While some energy drinks use animal fat as an additional shade and test the colors on several species, Xyience has no artificial additive. All the colors in their energy lineup are fully natural and come from the fruits used.

Is Xyience Good For Night Shifts?

What can I say? Xyience is absolutely great for night shifts. It contains caffeine which is needed to maintain focus and alertness.

Well, people take caffeine to stay awake. I drink them to boost my energy levels, especially when I’m engaged in strenuous activities. On days where I stay up late due to some work activities during graveyard hours, Xyience is my go-to beverage.

Final Thoughts

Rich in nutritional ingredients, this energy drink packs a solid punch of caffeine and healthy components! It is safe to drink a can of Xyience energy drink, but ensure that your caffeine content is within the boundaries for the rest of the day.

My technique on days I drink Xyience is that I try to prevent eating other industrially manufactured food and stick to my natural diet. This helps me handle my caffeine intake and balances the nutrition I need for my daily consumption.
