Is Nerd Focus Bad For You? (Truth Revealed)

Nerd Focus contains a low amount of caffeine and calories, making it a good choice if you consume it in moderation. Additionally, you get a healthy fusion of nootropics and vitamins in a 355ml can.

If you’re looking for a drink to boost your energy and focus with a low amount of caffeine in one serving, you’ll find very limited options. It’s a fact that consuming larger doses of Caffeine will leave nasty effects on your health and mood.

The only solution in this situation would be choosing an energy drink with an adequate amount of caffeine that doesn’t cause you headaches or jitters.

If you look at Nerd Focus, it’s one of the energy drinks that contain low Caffeine but still provide you with long-lasting stimulation.

In this article, you’ll learn about the benefits and side effects of the ingredients of Nerd Focus. Also, I’ll let you know how much drink is safe to consume each day.

Ingredients

Comparing the ingredients of both variants of Nerd Focus, we see that:

Other Ingredients:

  • Ginseng (135mg)
  • Guarana (37.5mg)
  • Vitamin (B2, B3, B6 & B12)
  • Total Carbs (42 g)
  • Sucralose
  • Artificial & natural flavors
  • Carbonated Water
  • Arabic Gum
  • Ester Gum

A single serving of this energy and focus drink has 135 milligrams of Ginseng and 37.5 milligrams of Guarana. Let me tell you that these amounts are below the recommended dosages. Additionally, it comes with two options, original and calorie-free. Both flavors contain Sucralose, a calorie-free sweetener approved by the FDA.

With this 12 fl.oz nootropic drink, you get a blend of healthy B vitamins and other ingredients. Interestingly, you get a safe dosage of each ingredient. This is what makes this drink an ideal choice.

Caffeine

Caffeine in Nerd Focus

In one serving of Nerd Focus, which is 12 fl.oz, you get 128mg of caffeine which doesn’t cause you jitters and crashes. If you tend to drink coffee regularly, you can simply substitute it with Nerd Focus.

There are no side effects associated with the amount of caffeine you get from one can of Nerd Focus. However, if you’re taking caffeine from other sources, keep in mind, you shouldn’t exceed your daily intake beyond 400mg.

The following side effects may occur with higher doses of caffeine:

  • Headache
  • Trouble in sleep
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Jitters
  • Crashes

Additionally, Nerd Focus contains other stimulants such as Ginseng and Guarana Seed Extract, which leave a stronger effect than caffeine. It’s not recommended to take more than one can of Nerd Focus at a time.

Is Nerd Focus Calorie-free?

With Nerd Focus, you have the choice between Original and Calorie-Free versions.

Calorie-free flavors contain no sugar or calories. So, if you have diabetic issues or if you strictly follow a diet, this flavor might appeal to you.

With the Original Variant, you get 170 calories per 355ml can. Because the average person needs 2000 calories a day, 170 calories aren’t too much.

Also, if you use this drink as a pre-workout, you can easily burn them. Alternatively, their calorie-free and sugar-free options might also be worth considering.

Is Nerd Focus Sugar-free?

Sugar in Nerd Focus

Since Nerd comes in original and sugar-free options, you can pick which one best suits your needs. There are no calories and sugar in a calorie-free drink. Whereas in the original flavor, you get 42 grams of added sugar which is way more than the recommended dose.

The FDA recommends that women and men should not consume more than 25 grams and 37 grams of sugar daily, respectively.

If you consume this amount of sugar daily, you may experience the following negative effects:

If you consume two servings of Nerd Focus, you will have 84 grams of sugar in a day, leaving you with a sugar crash. If you do not want that, you can choose their sugar-free flavor.

One thing that I’d like to point out is that both versions of Nerd Focus are too sweet. The reason behind this sweetness is the presence of artificial sweeteners.

If you don’t know, artificial sugar is much sweeter than the one you use every day. Adding ice cubes will make the drinks less sweet.

Ginseng

Ginseng in Nerd Focus

In each serving of Nerd Focus, you get 135mg Ginseng extract which is below the recommended dosage for adults.

Reports suggest that the safe dosage of this extract is 200mg.

You’ll normally see two types of Ginseng, one American and one Korean. Both seem to have the same benefits and side effects.

They might take different periods to grow. However, the most commonly used ginseng is the one that originated from Korea.

In the case of Nerd Focus, there’s no information regarding the origin of ginseng.

If you take ginseng under the recommended dosage, you may see the following benefits:

  • Reduced Inflammation
  • Improved cognitive functions
  • Better immune system
  • Fight fatigue

Like everything, if you over-consume Ginseng, it may leave nasty side effects on your health.

Stomach problems and dizziness are a few of the side effects of Ginseng. These side effects are associated with the long-term use of Ginseng. Therefore, I won’t recommend using Nerd Focus for a longer period.

Guarana Seed Extract

Guarana is one of the ingredients in Nerd Focus that you get in a small dosage as 37.5mg. However, the recommended dosage of this extract is anywhere between 75mg to 100mg.

You should take this amount of Guarana if you’re physically fit otherwise, you should consult with your doctor for further guidance.

Research has shown that Guarana leaves stimulant effects on your brain and body.

If you take this or any other ingredient that contains caffeine, don’t exceed your dosage up to 400mg.

Following are the side effects associated with the long term use of Ginseng:

Since you get a very moderate dosage of guarana in one serving of Nerd Focus, you can take one or two cans per day based on your needs.

Gum Arabic

Gum Arabic or Acacia is considered a beneficial ingredient for nursing women. This Kenyan-originated natural ingredient is equally effective for men.

Here are a few of the benefits:

  • Improved skin
  • Boost in energy
  • Best results in weight loss
  • Best for heat stroke

You should only consume 30 grams of Gum Arabic if you don’t want to experience bloating or early morning nausea.

What is Gum Arabic in Nerd Focus

Ester Gum

Ester Gum is a food additive commonly used as a beverage stabilizer. You won’t find much information about this ingredient except that it’s FDA-approved and suitable for use in drinks or oils.

It’s also unknown how much Ester Gum is safe for consumption. No side effects are associated with the use of this ingredient.

Sweeteners In Nerd Focus

Like every energy beverage, both variants of Nerd Focus come with artificial sugars.

There are two artificial sugars, Sucralose and Ace K, most commonly found in energy drinks or supplements.

In the case of Nerd Focus, you get Sucralose which makes Nerd Focus sweeter. That’s the reason you may find this drink a little bit sweeter.

Though it’s safe for consumption, larger doses can adversely affect your metabolism.

What does Sodium do to your body?

Sodium in Nerd Focus

You probably haven’t seen many energy drinks or supplements that contain sodium. However, this is an important nutrient for muscles

In order to keep your body’s minerals and water in balance, you must consume 300 to 500mg of sodium each day.

There are different amounts of sodium in each variant of Nerd Focus. You get 150mg of sodium in the original flavor and 115mg in the calorie-free drink of Need Focus.

With both options, you get a very moderate amount of sodium, which enhances your overall muscle performance.

Focus, Concentration, and Memory Formula

This carbonated drink contains 621mg of focus and memory formula. The following ingredients give you long-lasting mental clarity:

  • Ginkgo Biloba
  • GABA
  • DMAE
  • Alpha GPC
  • Huperzine A

Taken as a supplement or beverage, these ingredients treat cognitive disorders and improve athletic performance.

As these ingredients have no side effects, Nerd Focus is a great option for adding them to your diet.

Is Nerd Focus a pre-workout drink?

When you consider the caffeine content and other ingredients that have similar effects to caffeine, such as Guarana and Ginseng, Nerd Focus is undoubtedly a pre-workout drink.

After working out, your body needs to stay hydrated, so you can use this carbonated drink to accomplish this goal.

In case you’re sensitive to sugar, you can try their sugar-free drink since it provides the same level of energy and focus.

Additionally, you shouldn’t take more than one can of Nerd Focus to avoid any nasty side effects.

Who shouldn’t drink Nerd Focus?

As a teenage gamer, I recommend that you do not drink energy drinks containing caffeine. However, energy drinks and supplements containing caffeine are hard to find.

There are a few focus drinks without caffeine that provide you with the concentration you need for studying or gaming.

Furthermore, if you are pregnant, nursing, or sensitive to caffeine, you should completely avoid this drink.

Nerd is also available in calorie-free variants for people with sugar sensitivity or diabetes.

Is Nerd Focus Bad For You?

Nerd Focus comes in a calorie-free flavor, which means it contains no sugar or calories. Instead, you will experience the same energy and focus that the original flavor of Nerd leaves you with.

I don’t think there is a significant difference between the two variants in terms of taste. They both are improved and sweeter versions of Mountain DEW.

In addition, both options provide the same amount of caffeine and vitamins. The only difference is that they contain different amounts of sodium, which doesn’t make a big difference.

You can decide which one works best for you based on its sugar and calorie content. Overall, Nerd Focus is good energy and focus drink.

Final Thoughts

Nerd focus is a lightly carbonated drink that contains 128mg of caffeine. It may seem that such a small amount of caffeine has very subtle effects.

However, you will get extracts of Ginseng and Guarana Seed, which will also stimulate you like caffeine.

Additionally, this beverage is available in both original and sugar-free flavors, allowing you to choose based on your preferences.

With the original flavor, you’ll get 150mg sodium, while the sugar-free version has 115mg of sodium

You may find Nerd Focus a little too sweet since it contains artificial sweetener, which is a processed and sweetened substitute for sugar.

You might enjoy Nerd Focus if you’re a Mountain DEW fan since it tastes very similar to that beverage.

If you are sensitive to caffeine, I wouldn’t recommend consuming this drink. In the case of sugar sensitivity, you may want to consider a sugar-free version of Nerd.

From my perspective, this nootropics and adaptogens combination is a good drink that has long-lasting effects. I highly recommend you try this drink!
