Let’s break down the pros and cons and discuss more about its ingredients.

Pros of Rogue Energy

Rogue is Keto-Friendly, Vegan, and Gluten-Free

PSA: Rogue is Keto-Friendly, Vegan, or Gluten-Free, according to their website.

With 0 calories and sugar, Rogue is a good choice for you; even if you’re not on a keto diet, it’s still a lot better for your health than your standard sugary energy drink.

According to the website, Rogue does not make use of any ingredient linked with gluten. I checked the ingredients and this statement is true. Gluten-Free diet are people who stay away from wheat, barley, rye, and oats. They either are suffering from celiac disease or are simply trying to lose a few pounds.

Bread
Bread, a common source of gluten.

It’s tricky to claim that all ingredients are indeed vegan. Yet, upon checking, all ingredients are entirely vegan. One of the ingredients I was watching out for is L-Tyrosine because it could be coming from an animal source. However, the one included in Rogue is called N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine which is the vegan version of L-Tyrosine according to experts.

I am impressed with the health benefits of a vegan diet. They help in:

  • Weight loss
  • Lower blood sugar levels
  • Improvement of kidneys
  • Lower risk towards heart disease
  • Reduce pain from arthritis

However, I do advise you to check with your doctors since it’s important to ensure these ingredients complement your diet and lifestyle.

Is Rogue Energy Calorie Free?

Yes. Rogue Energy is completely calorie free.
This is good news if you’re trying to lose weight and you’re looking for a pre-workout drink before going all out in the gym. It will give you the energy you need without you having to get stressed about your calorie consumption for the day.

However, we are only recommended to consume 2000 – 2500 calories a day according to health experts so calorie-free everything is one of the qualities I like in energy drinks.

It still depends on your age, gender, height, and weight. You should go check out your body mass index (BMI) to see if you are consuming the right amount of calories.

Also, if you are on a diet, I do NOT recommend you to substitute Rogue for your meals. This won’t work despite it being calorie free. It’s important to stay healthy by eating right and staying in shape.

Is Rogue Energy Sugar-Free?

Yes. Rogue Energy is sugar-free.

Sugar is an amazing ingredient and we all crave it every now and then. Who else doesn’t want to get some dessert sometimes?

However, according to health experts, women are recommended to consume 24g of sugar daily while men should only consume 36g. It’s important to be mindful of sugar intake since it could take a toll on our health.

Overconsumption of sugar leads to these health risks:

  1. Weight gain
  2. Heart disease
  3. Acne
  4. Diabetes
  5. Cancer
  6. Depression

If you go over your daily limit, don’t be too afraid. An average American consumes around 71g of sugar and perhaps, explains why one out of three Americans are overweight.

Besides this, sugar can cause our energy levels to drop and we may suffer from sugar crashing. Yes. I said crash, not rush. Contrary to popular belief, sugar does not always give us a “rush”.

In fact, it’s the opposite. When we consume too much sugar, our body produces too much insulin that blocks our glucose levels. Insulin is in charge of breaking down our fats, carbs, and sugar and then decreases our glucose. Glucose is our body’s source of energy.

Does Rogue Have Artificial Sweeteners?

Yes. the sweetness from Rogue comes from Ace-K, it’s an artificial sweetener in most energy drinks and sodas.

Ace-K or Acesulfame Potassium is used as a substitute for normal table sugar because of its non-caloric content that’s 200 times sweeter.

The FDA recognizes the use of Ace-K and it is considered safe. However, some health experts are saying that Ace-K is linked to various health risks that lead to obesity and chronic inflammation.

The FDA states that a person can take only up to 15mg/kg or 23 packets a day, this is a lot.

Special ingredients

I won’t go into too much detail since I’ve already given an overview of the ingredients and its function. I’d like to point out some ingredients that caught my attention:

L-Carnitine and L-Citrulline

L-Carnitine is a great source of metabolism to promote muscle performance as well as cognitive functioning. This ingredient, together with L-Citrulline are key ingredients for optimal physical performance.

Overall, these ingredients promote the improvement of cognitive performance, reduction of fatigue, better sleep, boost mood, and endurance. It’s great since you get the best of both mind and body supplements in this energy drink.

However, it’s important to note that we cannot depend on Rogue to supply us with enough of these ingredients to be effective.

For instance, the recommended dose of L-Carnitine Tartrate is 500mg twice or thrice a day and L-Citrulline at least 3-6g.

Rogue only has around 500mg of L-Citrulline while L-Carnitine Tartrate is unknown. So with this, it’s obvious that we should not solely depend on Rogue to give us these nutrients.

L-Theanine

L-theanine is also a great ingredient because of its power to ease anxiety, regulate stress.

According to the website, this ingredient can calm down the jitters brought about by caffeine and research confirms this. L-theanine is an antidepressant and is a great ingredient to stabilize feelings of shakiness and agitation brought about by caffeine.

However, we aren’t sure about its content and amount so again, it’s safe not to depend too much on Rogue for this one.

Cons of Rogue Energy

High Level of Caffeine

There’s just too much caffeine. 300mg worth of caffeine is way beyond my personal preference. In fact, this is more than a venti Starbucks drink with only 225mg of caffeine.

Perhaps, if you have a higher tolerance for caffeine, you’d enjoy this.

But, if you are like me, who prefers less caffeine, this is too much. I only like consuming 50mg to 100mg of caffeine since I get all jittery.

The FDA only recommends a daily intake of 400mg because of the several health risks associated with this drink like:

  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Digestive issues
  • Muscle breakdown
  • Addiction
  • High blood pressure
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Fatigue
  • Frequent urination and urgency
Tired
Tiredness: too much caffeine consumption

Too much caffeine isn’t good for us and we shouldn’t go overboard despite how much we enjoy the caffeine kick.

Rogue is a Bit Steep

Although, this is debatable. G-Fuel is sold at around $7 while Rogue is at $11 – $12 per packet.

This is generally a bit expensive than your average energy drink and isn’t something you can get on impulse, so be sure you enjoy the taste and effects of Rogue Energy before dipping into it.

Here’s an honest review about Rogue if you are curious whether you should make that purchase:

Is Rogue Energy Drink Unhealthy?

In my opinion, it is not. But do consume moderately to save yourself from the negative effects of caffeine.

Rogue is sugar free, calorie free, and it is even suitable for keto-friendly, vegan, and gluten-free diets. I find this to be one of the better and healthier choices of energy drinks.

The dangers of Rogue lies within its caffeine content. As you can see, Rogue has 300mg worth of caffeine which is just 100mg less than the limit per day. Caffeine is a dangerous ingredient, although amazing at the same time. There is various research that warns us about the negative effect caffeine can bring to our mental and physical health.

If you’ve consumed a can of Adrenaline Shoc for the day, I recommend you to avoid any other caffeinated drink such as soda, coffee, or tea so you don’t go over the 400mg daily limit.

If you’ve consumed your Rogue for the day, stay away from other caffeinated drinks and food like soda, coffee, tea, and chocolate so you do not go over your daily limit. Studies show that caffeine can disrupt your sleeping patterns and consuming caffeine 6 hours before you sleep may decrease your sleeping hours.

It really takes a while before caffeine is completely out of your system so be mindful.

Another thing to watch out for with regards to caffeine is caffeine dependence. Because of its power to put us in a good mood, some of us might find it difficult to function without our caffeine. That’s actually a sign of dependence.

Caffeine is not addictive (scientifically speaking) but if you find yourself having a hard time doing anything productive without it and if you have a hard time cutting back, then that’s one sign of dependence.

It’s going to be hard for you to withdraw from it. Withdrawals are difficult to go through because it is linked with mental health problems like depression, insomnia, anxiety which can trigger headaches.

The last point is how caffeine can cause our energy levels to go down and drain. When you have more caffeine than you’re supposed to, you are going to crash from it eventually.

Did you know that you shouldn’t drink caffeine when you lack sleep because this will just make you feel more tired, irritable, and restless?

However, I do think that as long as consumed moderately, then you should be good. Just as long as you’re mindful, Rogue is okay.

Is Rogue FDA-Approved?

Yes. Rogue is FDA-Approved.

Although Rogue is a supplement and not a medication or drug, Rogue Energy is proud to be manufactured in FDA and GMP-certified facilities. They boast these credentials to prove that their products are made with the highest degree of quality.

Concluding Thoughts

It is totally okay to consume Rogue Energy before hitting the gym or start your workout session, however, you have to keep in mind to never consume beyond your daily limit.

Energy drinks have their own different and specific benefits, so you just have to find what type of energy drink is good for you. Rogue Energy may be great for exercise, but if you’re looking for a quick calorie hit, you might be better off with something else.

And do be aware to not overdo it on the caffeine. While having a serving of Rogue may be fine on it’s own, be aware of any other sources of caffeine you may have throughout the day as well, be it in tea, coffee or sodas.

Also, keep in mind to stay hydrated. Always bring water so it’s not just energy drinks that you hydrate yourself with throughout your workout session.
