Raze Energy Drink Review (Deep Dive)

Nothing but the best for you, with no added sugar, calories, or artificial food coloring! With a tasty new energy drink that offers a lot, Raze is quickly gaining popularity on the market. It’s been steadily gaining momentum on the market for the past few years. It’s particularly popular as a pre-workout supplement, which is fantastic news for athletes, I’m sure.

You’ve probably heard a lot of different things by this point. Everything from the amount of caffeine in Raze to how convenient it is to have a sugar-free energy drink to turn to is discussed. There are advantages and disadvantages, depending on where you’re looking.

Of course, I can’t tell you what to think, or if you’ll like Raze. But I can give you my two cents on this and whatever else you need to know about Raze.

In my opinion, Raze is a 9 out of 10. It has enough caffeine to get you going and won’t make you crash. It also has low sugar and caloric content, so there’s little need to worry about gaining weight from drinking it.

However, Raze can be difficult to purchase if you live outside the United States. The taste can also be weird if you aren’t accustomed to things like diet soda.

What evidence do I have to support my position? We’ll get started as soon as you scroll down.

How Much Caffeine is in Raze Energy?

Coffee beans
Coffee beans

Raze has 300mg of caffeine in its formula. 300 sounds like a lot on its own, but how much is that really?

A healthy adult can safely consume no more than 400mg of caffeine per day, according to the FDA. So, drinking a can of Raze will satisfy 75% of the daily limit. It’s up to you whether that’s too much for one serving or one day. However, you should be aware that exceeding this limit is extremely dangerous.

Even if you don’t end up in the hospital because of a caffeine overdose, drinking too much caffeine has side effects like:

  • Headaches
  • Insomnia (inability or difficulty falling asleep)
  • Anxiety
  • Increased irritability
  • Inability to control bladder activity
  • Palpitations (Fast heartbeat)
  • Muscle tremors (“Twitching”)

Caffeine, in all of its forms, is derived from coffee beans, which are found all over the world. The side effects mentioned can be attributed to its stimulant nature. That is, caffeine is a type of drug that promotes alertness and accelerates how your body works.

As a result, it is the complete opposite of an antidepressant such as alcohol (slows you and your body down). And, contrary to popular belief, you’re not permitted to mix them.

So what does all this have to do with Raze as a product?

Raze sure has a lot of caffeine in it. It contains far more caffeine than most people would get in a cup of coffee (95mg), and it can be dangerous if you aren’t careful.

Still, it’s within the range of what you can safely drink in a day, so it can be incorporated into your daily routine. Of course, with proper management.

Is Raze Energy Sugar-Free?

Artificial sweeteners
Artificial sweeteners

Raze is sugar-free. Instead of sugar, Raze Energy uses artificial sweeteners to flavor its drinks. In addition to being good substitutes to sugar, artificial sweeteners are also known for being calorie-free products.

The artificial sweeteners you can find in Raze are Sucralose and Acesulfame Potassium.

Sucralose is a popular food additive most people know as “Splenda”. It’s up to 600 times sweeter than sugar and is used on thousands of food products worldwide.

It’s made from sucrose (regular table sugar) through a process that involves replacing a few hydrogen-oxygen groups with chlorine atoms. This process results in a chemical structure that makes sure sucralose isn’t absorbed during digestion.

Acesulfame Potassium (Ace-K) is manufactured in a laboratory, just like sucralose. It’s made by combining acetoacetic acid and potassium in a reaction.

As a result, the sweetener is up to 200 times sweeter than sugar but has a bitter aftertaste. Most manufacturers, however, mask Ace-aftertaste K’s by mixing it with sucralose.

How Much Calories Does Raze Have?

Raze is considered a zero-calorie product.

Honestly, zero calorie products aren’t what they look like at all. Rather than literally giving you calories whatsoever, they just give you five or less overall. As for whether or not that’s something to be disappointed about, there are a few things to be considered.

Calories are a measure of how much energy your body gets from food and drink. So you can’t escape them—you need them.

If you actually manage to avoid getting any kind of calories from the food you consume, you wouldn’t have enough energy to function. So, keeping a healthy weight is more about balancing what you take in with what you burn throughout the day than anything else.

As for how this is done, the best place to start when figuring this out would be finding out how much you need. Rule of thumb is that men need 2500 calories a day, while women need 2000.

Sounds simple enough. But in practice, how much your body needs throughout the day depends on a lot of things. These can vary between physical characteristics like your body size and your health status, to broader things like lifestyle.

If you’re on a diet and want to find out how to make sure you get enough energy anyway, consult a doctor.

Is Raze Energy Bad For You?

On its own, Raze isn’t bad for your health. However, its high caffeine content can become a cause for concern depending on your eating habits.

First, let’s review what we know about Raze:

Based on the table, caffeine is the only thing you need to worry about.

Raze won’t likely make you fat or sugar high, but it can disrupt your sleep schedule depending on how much you drink or when you drink it.

As for the rest of the ingredients, all of them are supplements and additives that are considered safe by the FDA. Besides the Natural and Artificial flavors, there aren’t any on the list that should be a cause for worry.

Is Raze Energy Vegan?

Raze is also vegan-friendly and gluten-free.

There aren’t any animals or animal by-products involved in Raze’s ingredients, so it’s safe to assume it’s vegan. However, it’s worth noting that it’s not officially certified as a vegan product.

If this is an issue for you, then my suggestion is to contact the manufacturers to ask questions. That, or choose a different drink.

Raze is also safe to consume for people who have Celiac disease or other health conditions that require a gluten-free diet to manage. None of the ingredients in the list have wheat, barley, or rye in them.

Raze Energy Drink Flavors

Raze has an assortment of flavors for you to pick from, although it’s not quite as extensive as other competitors.

Among the flavors Raze has include:

  • Strawberry Lemonade
  • South Beach
  • Voodoo
  • Apollo
  • Galaxy Burst
  • Guava Mango
  • Strawberry Colada
  • Sour Gummy Worms
  • Watermelon Frost
  • Grape Bubblegum
  • Phantom Freeze
  • Baja Lime

What Does Raze Taste Like?

Raze has a much smoother taste than its more fizzy competitors (notably Bang and Reign), with only light carbonation and subtle sweetness to it.

While every flavor of Raze is going to have it’s own distinct taste, if you’re a fan of smooth, subtle energy drinks with minimal fiziness to them, Raze can definitely tick all of those boxes for you.

That being said, if you’re not too used to sugar-free energy drinks, you might notice a slight artificialness to the drink due to the artificial sweeteners used, although it’s quite easy to ignore once you get a handle of the flavors.

Where To Buy Raze Energy?

Online shopping
Shopping~

Raze’s official website, like many others, includes a store locator that you can use to find sellers near you. However, if you buy from the official site, 12-can cases range in price from around $30 to $32 before shipping fees.

Outside of the official website, I’d say the best place to buy Raze is Amazon. As of the writing of this article, a 12-can case usually costs around $26.

As inconvenient as shipping fees can be, there are actually a lot of perks to buying Raze Energy online. Online purchases mean you don’t have to stand in line or waste time coming to a store to see what’s available only to find out what you want is out of stock.

Buying online is generally cheaper too since not having to manage a physical store means no rental fees and fewer employees to pay. Getting what you bought delivered right to your doorstep is another plus if you’re the busy type.

Pros and Cons of Raze

In my experience, Raze tastes great and the variety of flavors means I don’t need to get bored from drinking the same thing every day. But I have to admit: the taste took some getting used to.

Put simply, it’s a lot like diet soda. It doesn’t taste bad at all, but it might not be for everyone. More so if the low caloric content and the sugar-free label don’t appeal to you.

In terms of how it works, I found the caffeine boost to be quick and effective. But, given that I rarely drink more than two cups of coffee on most days, this isn’t surprising.

Once I got it and got back to work, I felt it working through my system and constantly felt invigorated for the rest of the afternoon. Like many others, I didn’t have to worry about having to fight through a crash since I didn’t get one at all. It’s really a nice change from the usual energy drink experience!

However, if I had to mention something I seriously didn’t like about Raze, it’d be how hard it is to get. The official site doesn’t ship outside of the United States, and whether or not Amazon does depends on the seller.

And even if you do find someone who can ship Raze to where you live, the shipping and delivery fees might end up really expensive. In that case, you’d be better off picking something else if you don’t live in the US.

Final Thoughts

Raze is a 9 out of 10 in my book. It has enough caffeine to get you through whatever you need to do. Not having sugar or that many calories means it can also appeal to a lot of people.

However, the caffeine content in Raze is very high and may be too much for some people. Not having any sugar in its formula can also make it taste strange for some. Raze can also be difficult to purchase for anyone who doesn’t live in the United States.

Here’s a video by a Youtuber who consumes a lot of Raze. In addition to reviewing Raze as a product, he discusses whether it’s superior to Bang and Reign. If you’re still undecided about which brand to buy or which brand best suits your needs, I recommend watching.

If you have any questions about how drinking Raze might affect your health or whether it has ingredients that might not agree with you, feel free to consult a doctor.
