How Much Caffeine is In Rogue Energy Drink?

Rogue Energy contains caffeine that boosts physical performance

Rogue Energy Drink contains 175-300mg worth of caffeine depending on the flavor you’d prefer to drink.

Rogue Energy has variety of flavors and is divided into two types: extreme and the regular flavors. The extreme flavors is designed for athletes and those who does vigorous workout, it contains 300mg of caffeine. This is enough dose to provide extra energy and mental boost needed during workout. The regular flavors has 175mg of caffeine and is formulated for gamers and those who would like to boost their energy for a few hours.

This is a lot of caffeine compared to the Venti size in Starbucks that contains 225mg of caffeine.

If you are a fan of drinks with high caffeine content without feeling any jitters, then you should try Rogue.

Benefits of Caffeine

We all crave for caffeine to help us function better. Caffeine is a wonderful product that we can count on to give us a kick of energy. Here are the benefits of caffeine:

  • Decreases body fatigue
  • Improves short-term memory
  • Improves alertness
  • Boosts body reaction time
  • Puts us in an overall better mood

In 2019, 90% of American consume more than 300mg of caffeine daily which is dangerous since the recommended daily caffeine intake is only 400mg, and drinking more than that will pose greater health risks.

Health Risks Associated with Caffeine

Here are some of the health risks of consuming too much caffeine:

  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Nervousness
  • Digestive Problems
  • Muscle Breakdown
  • Caffeine Dependence
  • High blood pressure
  • Fatigue

300mg of caffeine is just far too much and it almost doesn’t make sense. No matter how much we love caffeine and no matter how much we need it, we shouldn’t go overboard with it.

Research shows that caffeine can significantly increase your blood pressure and cause heart rhythm changes.

Fatigue, a health issue associated with overconsumption of caffeine

Here are some symptoms to watch out for so you’ll know when to stop drinking caffeine. Since caffeine is a stimulant, consuming too much can trigger some symptoms associated with brain and nervous system simulations that may lead to addiction problems:

  • Dizziness
  • Shakiness
  • Headaches
  • Heartbeat abnormalities
  • Sleep issues
  • Nervousness

Here’s a video to find out other risks of consuming caffeine:

Does Rogue Hydration Have Caffeine?

As an aside, Rogue has also launched Rogue Hydration, which is a zero-caffeine formula packed with more ingredients than any other sports drink. However, it doesn’t make sense to me to sell decaffeinated energy drinks, to be honest.

Why don’t they put caffeine in this one? It tastes great, definitely the best tasting Rogue product I’ve tried so far.

I really like dragonfruit and mango (actual fruits), and I certainly liked this flavor, despite not being sure about how much it actually mimmicks the taste of either mango or dragonfruit. But it’s good.

I give the taste 8.5/10

But I don’t really see the point of the product. Is it simply for people that don’t like the taste of water?

Without caffeine, it doesn’t provide an energy boost. It’s got a smattering of vitamins, some of which are way higher than they really need to be. Then it’s also got a sprinkling of a few other things (check the label for details), but all of them are only present in fair amounts.

Sugar in Rogue Energy Drink

Rogue is sugar free.

This is a fantastic news especially after hearing the many side effects of too much sugar.

We all love sugar. Whether we have a sweet tooth or not, we all want to have something sweet every now and then. However, it is linked to several health risks. Overconsumption of sugar can cause these health risks and even more:

  1. Weight gain
  2. Heart disease
  3. Acne
  4. Diabetes
  5. Cancer
  6. Depression

In addition, the American Health Association (AHA) only recommends women to consume 24g of sugar and men to only have 36g.

It’s common knowledge that sugar can lead to sugar rush or a spike in our energy levels. However, research in 2019 confirm that the sugar rush concept is a myth. If anything, sugary snacks is likely to decrease our energy levels and cause us to feel more tired and drained.

Sugar crashing happens when our body produces too much insulin that disrupts the regulation of glucose in our body. Insulin is a type of hormone that metabolizes fats and carbs and glucose is our body’s main source of fuel. Instead of the flow to be continuous, too much sugar just blocks our body’s source of energy.

However, researchers emphasize that this depends from person to person. Other people may experience a different effect after consuming sugar.

Are there Artificial Sugars in Rogue Energy?

Rogue Energy Drinks contain Ace-K.

Ace-K or Acesulfame Potassium could be a noncaloric alternative to normal table sugar. It’s found in most energy drinks. If you’re wondering, it’s the one marketed as Sweet One and Sunett. It’s considered 200 times sweeter than regular sugar.

Artificial sweeteners are FDA approved. But overconsumption of artificial sweeteners may result in some chronic health problems and obesity. The FDA recommends a daily intake of artificial sugar of 15mg/kg.

L-Theanine in Rogue Energy

Rogue Energy contains an ingredient called L-Theanine that acts as stimulant to increase alertness, reduce crashes. They are claiming that this supplement can increase focus without the crash.

Several research proves that L-Theanine is an effective supplement to ease anxiety and clam down our nerves. Some of its benefits include:

  • Increase several neurotransmitters of the brain
  • Reduces anxiety
  • Mental focus
  • Relaxation
  • Cognitive performance and creativity

There’s a research confirming that L-Theanine is effective in stabilizing shakiness brought about by caffeine.

There are no official guidelines on the recommended L-Theanine dosage a person should take. The supplement is currently found unlikely to lead to an overdose. Those with anxiety are usually recommended to take 400mg to 800mg per day depending on severity.

Overall, this ingredient is helpful especially since Rogue Energy contains heaps of caffeine. I believe it’s a good thing that L-Theanine is present in this energy drink.

Other Ingredients

While there are plenty of other ingredients in Rogue, there’s definitely some concern if they’re at a viable dosage, given that we don’t exactly know how much of any of them are present in the drink.

As such, it’s best to take the potential benefits of those ingredients with a grain of salt. That being said, let’s dive into some of the other ingredients where we do have the amount for:

Vitamins

Rogue has 4 distinct vitamins to help give you a bit of health boost, while they’re not anything to write home about, it’s definitely one way in adding a bit of nutrients into your diet.

You might notice that the Vitamin content far exceeds the recommended daily value, but not to worry, as the content present is still we below the tolerable intake level, so as long as you’re not having Rogue as your only source oh hydration, you don’t really need to worry about excessive vitamin intake.

Choline L-Bitartrate

Rogue contains 47mg of Choline L-Bitartrate, which is often touted as helping to improve sports performance, although there isn’t any good scientific research on that particular aspect.

Choline is mostly used to build up fat in the liver due to nutritional deficiencies, so why it’s present in an energy drink meant to boost energy is definitely a head-scratcher.

Furthermore, adequate intake (AI) of choline for adults is 550 mg per day for males and 425 mg per day for females.

As such, there really isn’t enough Choline present in Rogue to be anymore than slight dressing.

Pros and Cons of Rogue Energy

With 175mg-300mg of caffeine, I’d say Rogue is nice as long as it is taken moderately.

300mg is comparatively near to what the FDA suggested because the recommended daily caffeine intake is 400mg, but if you can handle that much caffeine, it’s certain to give you a solid boost.

Pros

Athletes, gamers, and workaholics all love energy drinks because of its power to give you that boost of energy for their jetsetter lifestyle. Some of the benefits of energy drinks include:

  1. Improve energy
  2. Increase insurance
  3. Improve concentration
  4. Increase mental focus

Cons

The side effects of energy drinks is highly correlated to its caffeine and sugar content. The side effects of energy drinks in general are:

  1. Increased heart rate
  2. High blood pressure
  3. Heart palpitations
  4. Insomnia
  5. Dehydration
  6. Restlessness

How much is Rogue?

Rogue costs $10-$11 for five packs and $30-$33 for one tub.

A formula of Rogue costs around $10-$11 for a 5.9g of sachet. This is already a pack of five sachets plus you get to choose what specific flavor you’d like to have, so technically it’ll cost you around $2 per sachet.

Rogue is also available in a tub of 204g to 207g which is worth $30-33.

Honestly, this is quite pricey but considering the vitamins and nutritional supplements that you’ll get, I believe the price is worth it.

Ultimately, how much you’re willing to spend, depends on you. Whether you agree with me or not, it’s really your decision at the end of the day.

Final Thoughts

Rogue Energy is true to its word. It contains many ingredients that may be beneficial to the daily functions of the body.

Despite of its caffeine content that nearly reaches the maximum limit cited by the FDA, a 300mg dose of caffeine is still not associated with any health risks. That is, if you are into a higher level of caffeine. If not, then some Rogue flavors has 175mg of caffeine, which is much lower. You have lots of variety to choose from.

But always check the nutritional contents whether it is Rogue or other energy drinks and remember not to exceed the maximum daily limits as it may pose health problems.
