When Does Bang Energy Kick In? (Precise Time)

If you ever find yourself needing more energy than you know what to do with, then Bang Energy might be for you. With a staggering 300mg of caffeine, it’s certain to give you the boost you need (probably more than you need) to get you over the afternoon slump or those late-night study sessions.

But, you might be wondering how long it takes for Bang to kick in, so you can better plan your work or exercise sessions and figure out the best time to drink a Bang for maximum impact.

In short, a regular 16 fl.oz can of Bang usually starts kicking in around 20 to 30 minutes after you drink it and will remain in your system for around 5 to 12 hours, depending on how quickly your body metabolizes caffeine. The energy boost will last around 3 hours before you don’t feel much different than before you drank a Bang.

For the longer and more in-depth answer, read on for all the information on exactly how you get your energy boost from Bang, as well as whether or not you should be downing an entire can in one go.

Let’s get into it…

How Many Calories Are In Bang?

Bang is completely calorie-free and won’t add anything to your daily caloric intake, but it doesn’t exactly provide your body with a viable source of ‘energy’ either.

Being calorie-free, Bang markets itself as a healthier alternative to the other sugary, higher-calorie energy drinks out there on the market.

With Bang, you don’t have to worry about any additional calories being added to your diet, which makes it a great pick-me-up if you happen to be on a diet or don’t want to spoil your appetite for a meal later in the day.

Being a zero-calorie energy drink, Bang helps to keep your daily caloric intake in check, which is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and diet.

That said, while Bang may provide you with a strong energy boost, it doesn’t actually provide any actual energy for your cells, which makes it quite a poor substitute for an actual meal.

So, be sure to have a decent meal if you plan on having a Bang, as you’re going to need a fair amount of calories to get the full effects of all that caffeine.

Bang Energy Caffeine Content

Each 16 fl.oz can of Bang Energy Drink has 300mg of caffeine, which, as the warning label on the can states below, is actually more than 2 cups of coffee’s worth of caffeine.

That’s definitely a lot more caffeine in a can as compared to your average energy drink.

You may already know that the general caffeine content for most energy drinks ranges from about 80mg (8.4 fl.oz of Red Bull) to 160mg (16 fl.oz of Rockstar).

As such, it’s probably going to be difficult to get used to Bang’s high caffeine content, even if you happen to be a veteran energy drink enthusiast, but doubly so if you’re caffeine-sensitive.

When it comes to caffeine, having more of it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better for you or more effective, because caffeine affects each of us differently.

Personally, as someone who usually likes the caffeine content in their energy drinks to be somewhere around 100mg per serving, Bang’s rather high caffeine content isn’t something I would willingly go for or actually enjoy.

Of course, there are plenty of situations where you might need a 300mg caffeine hit, such as a late-night cram session or a high-intensity workout, so it’s definitely a pretty efficient energy drink if you can handle all that caffeine.

Just be very sure not to have too many cans of Bang in short succession, because the FDA recommends a maximum caffeine intake of 400mg per day. Having more than that, or more than what’s tolerable can lead to some notable side effects, including:

  • Insomnia
  • Shakiness
  • Restlessness
  • Stomachache
  • Nausea
  • Headaches

Be sure to always keep your caffeine levels well within tolerable limits, and try not to double down on other caffeinated beverages such as coffee or tea if you’ve already had a Bang beforehand.

Does Bang Have Sugar In It?

Bang is free of sugar but contains an artificial sweetener, Sucralose, which helps to improve the taste of the drink.

Being sugar-free, Bang is probably better for your health overall than your usual sugary selection of energy drinks, so you don’t have to worry about pesky dietary sugar limits with Bang.

However, Bang does contain Sucralose, which is a zero-calorie artificial sweetener that’s 200 to 700 times the sweetness of sugar. You can find a more in-depth overview of Sucralose in this article here.

Sucralose on its own doesn’t add any calories or nutritional value for you, so apart from a bit of sweetness, there’s not much else Sucralose adds to Bang.

While the long-term use of artificial sweeteners is always a debate, they have been approved for general use by the FDA, so as long as you’re not having too many drinks with artificial sweeteners present in them, you should be alright.

Does Bang Energy Work?

The main way that you get energy from Bang is through its 300mg of caffeine, with many of the other ingredients being nutritional additives that don’t really do much to help the short-term energy boost.

There’s a reason that caffeine is one of the most widely consumed stimulants on the planet, and that’s because it works.

Now, usually, sugar would be present in most other energy drinks so that your cells have some calories to work with, but since Bang is sugar-free, you’re only really getting the stimulating effects from caffeine.

To summarize, caffeine binds to the adenosine receptors in your brain, which prevents you from feeling the effects of fatigue, thus allowing you to have more focus and stay awake for longer. Bang has plenty of caffeine in every can, hence why it works.

Apart from making you feel more awake, caffeine has also been proven to be helpful in improving exercise performance as well as cognitive functioning while its effects last.

For a more detailed discussion about whether or not Bang ACTUALLY works, check out my other article where I go into a lot of detail on the topic.

For a more general overview of the basics of how a typical energy drink works, take a look at the video below. You’ll definitely find it interesting.

How Long Does It Take For Bang To Kick In?

It usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes for you to start feeling the effects of Bang, depending on your individual caffeine tolerance and how fast you drink it, of course.

Depending on your caffeine metabolism and overall health, it usually doesn’t take too long for you to start feeling the effects of Bang, or any caffeinated beverage for that matter.

Of course, this also depends on how quickly you drink Bang: if you have a few sips over the course of an hour, you’re not going to have 300mg of caffeine hitting you all at once, leading to a more prolonged energy boost with a less intense peak.

On the other hand, slamming down an entire can of Bang all in one go means you’ll be getting 300mg of caffeine straight into your system very quickly, which I don’t recommend for everyone, as your body might not be able to handle that much caffeine at once.

As personal tolerances have to be taken into account, it’s hard to accurately estimate when Bang will kick in for you. That said, you should be feeling the effects within the first 30 minutes, if not sooner.

You’ll probably feel “maximum boost” around 45 minutes after drinking Bang. This is how long it usually takes for the caffeine to be completely absorbed into your bloodstream.

After that time, the effects will slowly begin to wear off, but it will be quite some time until you no longer feel anything and even longer until all of the Bang is completely out of your system.

How Long Does It Take For Bang Energy To Wear Off?

Considering that the half-life (how long it takes for your body to process) of caffeine is around 5 hours, it’ll take about 10-12 hours for all the caffeine from Bang to completely leave your system.

Again, while you can find a theoretical answer for how long it takes for the effects of Bang to wear off, you’re definitely going to experience some variations as not everyone has the same metabolism and body weight, as stated by this journal article:

The mean half-life of caffeine in plasma of healthy individuals is about 5 hours. However, caffeine’s elimination half-life may range between 1.5 and 9.5 hours, while the total plasma clearance rate for caffeine is estimated to be 0.078 L/h/kg

Pharmacology of Caffeine

In any case, be sure not to have a can of Bang too late into the afternoon, or you’ll probably end up having difficulties sleeping.

How long before should I drink a Bang?

For best results, consume one Bang energy drink for about 30 minutes before working out or engaging in physical activity.

This will allow your body to convert the caffeine in the drink into adenosine. You will be more pumped to work out if the caffeine rush has already taken effect beforehand.

Do You Crash After Drinking Bang?

While you’re probably won’t suffer from a sugar crash after drinking Bang, its high caffeine content means that you might be crashing from caffeination instead.

Now, you’re not exactly crashing from the caffeine itself, but from the fact that you might’ve originally been tired, to begin with before having a can of Bang, as caffeine is no magical remedy for fatigue for more than a few hours.

While caffeine is present, the adenosine receptors are blocked off by caffeine, which prevents adenosine, which signals the brain to go to sleep, from binding to its receptor.

So while you may not feel fatigued, the adenosine in your brain continues to build up, which means that by the time the caffeine wears off, you’re going to be feeling a lot more tired than when you started as the adenosine floods back into your brain all of a sudden.

The best way to deal with a crash like this is to have an adequate amount of sleep so that your adenosine levels stay stable throughout the day.

You should also be sure to have a nutritious meal with your can of Bang, as you may quickly feel the effects of hunger and tiredness once the caffeine wears off.

Final Thoughts

Several flavors of Bang.

In short, exactly when Bang will kick in for you depends on many factors such as your health, caffeine tolerance, and how accustomed to caffeine you are. But on average, it’ll take somewhere between 20 to 30 minutes for Bang to begin noticeably kicking in.

Bang’s high caffeine content definitely isn’t for everyone, and if you happen to be at all caffeine-sensitive, you’ll probably find other energy drinks with lower caffeine content to be more enjoyable.

Still, if you feel like you need the boost, or happen to be a hardened caffeine veteran wanting to relive your first hit, then you really can’t go wrong with a can of Bang.

Just be sure to keep your caffeine levels in check, and always consume all caffeinated drinks responsibly.
