Personally, G Fuel is an exceptional drink. It does what it’s supposed to do — boosts energy, improves mental functions, and so on. It’s a good coffee alternative for those looking to lessen their caffeine or sugar addiction.

If you want to know more of what else G Fuel has to offer, scroll down for a comprehensive breakdown of what I believe the drink does right and its significant side effects.

G Fuel History

First things first: what is G Fuel and why do so many gamers and eSports athletes endorse it?

G Fuel is an energy drink formula manufactured by Gamma Labs. It claims to be a source of clean and healthy energy as an alternative to the sugar-packed brands available on the market.

According to the official website, the brand’s first customer was an eSports athlete who wanted an energy drink that could enhance focus and endurance. Specifically, they wanted a boost in energy that wouldn’t come with all the toxic substances the typical energy drink contains.

Since then, G Fuel has marketed itself to be the best energy drink for gamers. They even created a team composed of eSports athletes, gamers, streamers, and YouTubers G Fuel sponsors as part of its marketing.

How big are the names in Team Gamma? They have a household name like PewdiePie on their list.

As of the writing, G Fuel has been in the energy drink industry for 9 years. It was released in 2012 and has been going strong ever since.

Based on the chart alone, these things about G Fuel make it a good choice for those who need to watch their weight or limit their sugar intake.

Calories in G Fuel Powder

G Fuel powder has 25 calories per serving, which is lower than the average for an energy drink.

The average energy drink has over 200 calories per 16 fl.oz serving. (for reference, your 16fl.oz can of NOS has 210, Monster has 200, while Rockstar has 280). That’s at least ten times what G Fuel has.

Aside from that, energy drinks are known for being high in calories and caffeine but low in nutritional value. 200 calories or over can quickly pile up with everything else that you consume in a day. This also easily contributes to the development (or continuation) of weight problems.

On the other hand, Calories are a measure of the energy you get from having food or drinks. So although it’s advisable to watch your intake and consume no more than what you need, they’re impossible to avoid.

Most nutritional facts are calculated on the assumption that you take the recommended amount of 2000 calories a day. However, the amount of what you really need in your diet depends on a lot of things (like your lifestyle).

G Fuel Sugar Content

One more thing about G Fuel is that it’s sugar-free. It gets its sweet flavor from artificial sweeteners like Sucralose (Splenda), Acesulfame Potassium (Ace-K), and Erythritol.

Artificial sweeteners are a kind of sugar substitute. They’re meant to give flavor to a product without also increasing calories or using sugar. This makes them popular both as food additives and cooking ingredients for those who need to watch their sugar.

These sweeteners are often several times sweeter than regular table sugar, so most people can’t tell the difference with taste alone.

But as you might have heard, artificial sweeteners are also, in a way, controversial. There have been reports that they’ve been tested on animals under inhumane circumstances that resulted in the animals’ deaths.

The most notable example of this (and most common artificial sweetener) is Splenda.

There are also people who believe artificial sweeteners may be linked to health problems, but there are few studies that can support that claim.

Regardless, they’re considered safe by the FDA. As long as you don’t go overboard with how much of these you consume regularly, you won’t have anything to worry about.

Caffeine Content in G Fuel Powder

Coffee beans
Looking for a caffeine fix?

Depending on which flavor you buy, G Fuel has 140mg to 150mg of caffeine per serving.

Compared to other brands, that’s above average. Most energy drinks have about 10mg of caffeine per 1 fl.oz in a serving. So a 16 fl.oz can will typically have 160mg of caffeine or higher.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that 140g is still a lot of caffeine for a single serving of any drink.

From a bit of perspective, the average cup of coffee is an 8 fl.oz serving with 95-100mg of caffeine in it. That 95mg is enough to give sufficient energy to finish the day’s work. But for some, that’s that too much caffeine for the day!

So depending on how used to caffeine you are, a single serving of G Fuel (or any energy drink) might be worth 2 cups of coffee.

That said, whether or not that counts as too much is entirely up to you.

Where can I Buy G Fuel Powder?

You can buy G Fuel Powder on Amazon, Walmart, or the G Fuel official website.

The official website has a store locator you can use to find nearby stores selling G Fuel powder. It also has a list of all the flavors they have available and the kind of package you can purchase them in.

The price for G Fuel tubs there is around $36. That doesn’t include the shipping fees.

You can also find this on Amazon and Shoppee if you’re from Asia. They offer tubs, shaker cups, and basically everything else you can find on the official website.

Amazon prices a single G Fuel tub at around $30 and a shaker cup at $17.50. Both prices also exclude shipping fees.

How Long Does it Take for G Fuel Powder to Kick In?

G Fuel kicks in around 10 minutes after consumption. This is to be expected given how much caffeine is in its formula as well as the many other additives included in its ingredients.

For reference, caffeine generally needs 30 minutes to produce a discernible effect. After that, it slowly moves to its half-life and gets there after 3-6 hours on average.

That means by the time 3-6 hours have passed since you had G Fuel or some other source of caffeine, the amount in your bloodstream will only be half of what you started with. So by the 6th or 12th hour after consumption, it’ll be gone.

G Fuel Powder Pros and Cons

All these facts are nice, but what is G Fuel actually like?

In my experience, G Fuel has been great. I love the sheer variety they have in flavor and how unique most of them are compared to everything else on the market. It kind of makes me want to try them all even though I know that’s not a good idea in the slightest.

I also think it’s good that they sell it in a powdered formula That gives the consumer a lot of freedom to prepare the drink however they want and allows one purchase to last a long time.

G Fuel’s claim of energizing you without giving you jitters or a crash is accurate too, which is great.

So you’d definitely be getting your money’s worth if you decide to try it.

As for complaints, there are a few. For one thing, I really don’t like how the price on the official site is more expensive than what the sellers on Amazon offer.

Amazon might not be the worst place to buy G Fuel, but it’s not the first place most people would think to look unless they didn’t live in the US or anywhere physical stores are available.

Another issue I have is that following the instructions on the tub leads to a grainy drink. It makes the taste too strong and leaves a funny feeling at the back of my throat.

I have to admit though, you can easily get around this by putting in less and deciding for yourself how much goes into your mug.

It’s also worth mentioning that G Fuel works more through prolonging how much you have your energy and focus than giving you a burst of both. This is more a neutral thing than a bad thing, but I think it could make a big difference for some people.

Final Thoughts

Final Thoughts

I’d score G Fuel an 8 out of 10. It does what it’s supposed to and is healthier than other of its competing brands. But the price and the way it works might not be ideal for some people.

So yes, I’d totally recommend it if that’s what you want to know.

I’d like to add that is to be careful of how much of it you drink and how often you drink it because of the high caffeine content. Drinking too much caffeine can have some severe consequences.

Treat it like a cup of coffee. Which also means people under the age of 18, are sensitive to caffeine, or are pregnant or nursing should also stay away from G Fuel.

If you’re curious about what the gamers G Fuel markets itself to think, here’s a quick review for your consideration.
