Guru Review (Know the truth)

GURU Energy Drink is originated in Canada but is available across the United States. It is one of the first-ever organic energy drinks and started its journey in 1999.

The drink is USDA organic certified, verified non-GMO project, and vegan. It has naturally occurring caffeine from Guarana seed extract and Green tea extract.

Guru was established in Montreal, in 1999 by four school friends. Honestly, Guru isn’t too referred to or large as some other caffeinated drinks are, however, it has a beautiful huge presence in Canada and the U.S.

The most interesting and different feature of this drink is that it uses organic ingredients unlike most other energy drinks on the market.

It is not as popular as Red Bull or Monster but it claims to use 100% organic ingredients.

In my own opinion, Guru Energy Drink is 8.5 out of 10 in terms of price, availability, and taste. Let’s find out more about Guru Energy Drink.

Sugar

Sugar
Guru contains naturally occurring sugar.

A single can of Guru Energy Drink contains 21g sugar.

What makes this drink different from other energy drinks is that since it’s organic, it uses naturally occurring sugar rather than processed sugar.

The sweetness comes from stevia and monk fruit which does not contain any calories and any chemicals or preservatives.

Stevia is a healthier sugar alternative which is a popular ingredient found in a lot of food nowadays. It does not contain any calories, carbohydrates, or artificial ingredients, but it tastes different than sugar.

Monk Fruit sweetener, known as “Buddha fruit”, is extracted from monk fruit which is originated in South Asia.

Monk fruit sweeteners are free of fructose or glucose. The sweetness in monk fruit sweeteners is developed from the antioxidant called mogrosides.

Caffeine content in Guru Energy Drink

Guru Energy Drink contains naturally occurring caffeine.

Guru Energy Drink contains 100mg of naturally occurring caffeine per can.

The maximum limit for caffeine intake per day for a healthy person is around 400mg. Guru Energy Drink contains 100mg which is a fair amount for the body. But at the end of the day, it really depends on the caffeine tolerance of a person.

The caffeine comes from the organic green tea extract and the organic guarana seed extract.

Most of the other energy drinks on the market use caffeine which has been developed in the labs because it is cost-efficient and the caffeine is stronger. Natural caffeine is comparatively a bit more expensive.

If you drink energy drinks on a daily basis or frequently, choosing a drink with naturally occurring caffeine would be a better choice because it is healthier in the long run.

A comparatively measured container of Red Bull contains just 80mg of caffeine and 26g of sugar. Guru is somewhat more grounded, with 100mg of caffeine, and just 21g of sugar.

It is vital to keep in mind that having four cans of Guru can easily cross the daily maximum caffeine intake limit.

Therefore, having four cans or more can cause caffeine overdose and that might lead to the following side effects:

  • Restlessness and shakiness
  • Insomnia
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Rapid or abnormal heart rhythm
  • Dehydration
  • Anxiety

Does Guru have aspartame?

Guru Energy Drink is a natural energy drink that is sweetened with organic cane sugar and organic stevia leaf extract. It does not contain aspartame or any other artificial sweeteners.

In addition to its natural sweeteners, Guru Energy Drink also contains natural caffeine from green tea, natural electrolytes from coconut water, and a blend of natural plant-based ingredients such as ginseng, echinacea, and panax root extract.

Is aspartame toxic to humans?

Aspartame is a low-calorie artificial sweetener that has been approved for use by regulatory agencies around the world, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). When consumed in moderate amounts, aspartame is generally considered safe for most people, including adults and children.

However, some studies have suggested a potential link between aspartame consumption and certain health conditions, such as headaches, migraines, and other neurological symptoms. Other studies have found no significant associations between aspartame consumption and these or other health concerns.

Which is worse sugar or aspartame?

Both sugar and aspartame have potential health impacts when consumed in excessive amounts, but they are different in their effects on the body.

Sugar is a natural sweetener that provides calories and energy to the body, but excessive consumption of sugar has been linked to a number of health problems, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. Consuming too much sugar can also lead to tooth decay and other dental problems.

Aspartame, on the other hand, is an artificial sweetener that provides no calories or energy to the body. While aspartame has been approved for use by regulatory agencies around the world and is generally considered safe when consumed in moderate amounts, some studies have suggested a potential link between aspartame consumption and certain health concerns, such as headaches and other neurological symptoms.

Overall, the health impact of sugar and aspartame depends on how much is consumed and in what form. Consuming moderate amounts of sugar as part of a balanced diet is generally considered safe for most people, but excessive consumption can lead to health problems.

Are Guru Energy Drink healthy?

Guru Energy Drink does not have any chemicals or preservatives which is definitely a very good reason to have this drink. It also has a fair amount of caffeine to boost your energy.

Nevertheless, it contains a lot of sugar.

The recommended maximum limit of sugar intake for a healthy woman is 25g and for a healthy man is 38g. A single serving of Guru Energy Drink contains 21g of sugar which is close to the maximum recommended sugar intake limit.

Compared to most of the best-selling energy drinks on the market, the Guru Energy Drink is a healthier option given it has a lot of organic components and it does not contain any preservatives or chemicals.

You can always go for Guru Organic Energy Lite, it contains only 3g of sugar.

I for one don’t feel that Guru caffeinated drink is terrible for you. Some broad incidental effects to observe when drinking caffeinated or energy drinks are:

  • Caffeine overdose
  • Obesity
  • Cavities
  • Adverse neurological effects on children and adolescents

It is always recommended to have any kind of energy drink in moderation.

Guru Energy Drink flavours

Guru Energy Drink has the following flavors:

  • Original
  • Original Lite
  • Energy Water – Grapefruit
  • Energy Water – Lime
  • Energy Water – Pomegranate

There is by all accounts a distinction in how the original drink and the flavored beverages are showcased – the original flavor and light both contain calories.

However, the water adaptation is sparkling and contains both zero calories and zero sugars.

What does Guru Organic Energy Drink tastes like?

While the other energy drinks like Red Bull have a strong or tangy taste, Bang Energy Drink with its fruity flavor and Monster Energy Drink has a taste of sour apple, Guru Energy Drink has a mild flavor and an aftertaste like soda water.

Original Guru flavor has the sweetest taste among the flavors available since it has the most sugar content. While the Original Lite and Lime flavors are bland in taste.

Energy Lime flavor has a refreshing taste because of the lime, with a little taste of sweetness.

Meanwhile, Energy-Water Pomegranate tastes like sparkling water. It is best served chilled.

Guru Grapefruit flavor could be a drink for a specific market. The taste is subtle like the other flavors.

I won’t recommend Guru if you are looking for the usual taste of energy drink with a strong punch. But if you are done feeling bloated after consuming a regular energy drink and up for a lighter feeling, then this is a must drink for you.

It makes your tongue tingle but it does not feel like a soft drink. Instead, it tastes a lot better.

Guru Energy Drink Calories

A single serving of Guru Energy Drink contains 80calories.

It does not contain saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, and iron.

The maximum limit of calories intake for a healthy woman is 2000 calories and for a healthy man is 2500 calories. Guru contains 80 calories per can which is a good amount for energy drinks.

According to my opinion, Guru Energy Drink is a mild energy drink, and it is a healthier option compared to a lot of other energy drinks.

Pros and Cons of Guru Energy Drink

Guru organic energy drink has 100 mg of caffeine per can, which is a good amount of caffeine if you have no health issues. It will give you the perfect energy boost that you want.

Unlike other energy drinks, Guru is enriched with all-natural ingredients, therefore it does not have any preservatives and it also gives the added nutrition from all the organic substances present.

The one thing which is a drawback of the drink is the sugar content. It contains 21 g of sugar which is a lot. Although the sugar comes from all-natural ingredients, the amount is still a lot.

Apart from it being high in sugar content, the drink is definitely healthier than a lot of other energy drinks on the market.

Where to buy Guru Energy Drink?

It costs $7.58 for a pack of 4 Guru caffeinated drinks and $48.99 for a pack of 24 drinks that is around $2 per can.

Monster Energy Drink $1.89
Price Comparison of Energy Drink Brands. Note that these prices may vary.

Guru Energy Drink is the most expensive among other energy drink brands like Red Bull, Bang Energy Drink, and Monster Energy Drink.

In my opinion, $2 is certainly not an absurd cost to pay for a caffeinated drink and particularly on the grounds that the ingredients should be of top-notch and naturally sourced.

In case you’re willing to pay a bit more for a solid caffeinated drink, then, this is the best beverage for you.

Final Thoughts(Rating: 8.5/10)

Guru is one of the first companies to come up with organic energy drinks.

I would rate Guru a solid 8.5 out of 10.

3.5 rating for the taste. it tastes healthier than other energy drinks making it the best choice for you to have if you frequently drink energy drinks.

Given it is enriched with its all-regular, natural ingredients, its sensible measure of sugar and caffeine to its fresh new taste, making it particularly not quite the same as most other caffeinated drinks.

I can rate 3 for the price. Even though you are spending more than cents of a dollar compared to other energy drinks, its grounded and organic quality ingredients makes it worth the price.

Rating of 2 for availability. If you are living outside Canada and United States, you have to buy Guru Energy Drink online with an additional shipping price.

If you are looking for a healthy and affordable energy drink then Guru is the drink for you. It has a different taste compared to other energy drinks, but if you are hooked to the taste then you can definitely make it one of your favorites.

There is no doubt when saying this that Guru is a healthier option compared to a lot of other energy drinks on the market.

But it is important that you choose energy drinks according to your caffeine tolerrance level and according to your health condition.
