Live+ Review (Analyzed)

Live+, formerly known as Lift+, is a popular energy drink that originated from New Zealand. It has several natural ingredients, including Panax and guarana extracts. These two are enough for many energy drinkers to check out the offers of Live+ and its overall content.

The thing is, trying out an energy drink will take time and money before you get to a final conclusion. Going through trials and errors isn’t really the most practical option around if you want a go-to beverage.

For a general overview: I’ll give Live+ a rating of 6 over 10. I don’t like how it contains a high amount of sugar despite the moderate caffeine content. This, alone, can already pose several risks even with extracts coming along with it.

Nutrition Facts of Live+

To keep it short, Live+ has 107mg of caffeine, a whopping 41.9g of sugar, and 180 calories, all of which aren’t ideal.

This is most especially if you plan on going for a boosted mental performance for studying or workouts. Not only that, but because of the sugar and calorie count, it won’t be ideal for diets.

Content Rating Of Live+

My rating for the content of Live+ stays at a 6 out of 10.

A 16 fl. oz bottle of Live+
A 16 fl.oz Live+

Caffeine Level

A 16 fl.oz of Live+ has 107mg of caffeine.

Caffeine can be beneficial to your health when used in moderation or under FSA’s suggested daily limit of 240mg. When taken more, it can cause undesired side effects such as:

  • Headache
  • Restlessness
  • Shakiness
  • Dizziness
  • Irregular Heartbeat

Although 107mg of caffeine is a reasonable quantity, you should still limit yourself to one serving per day to avoid a caffeine overdose. Given that you may ingest caffeine-containing foods and beverages without even realizing it.

Sugar Level

Live+ contains 41.9g of sugar per 16 fl.oz serving.

The drink has a high amount of sugar, which is probably the biggest disadvantage in the drink. Compared to the 30g daily added sugar limit, this can surely easily push you off the threshold. One serving can also cause:

  • Sugar Crash
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Fatigue
  • Acne
  • Weight Gain

If you’re sensitive to sugar, then you should definitely avoid Live+. Instead, you should look into sugar-free drinks or those with relatively lower sugar levels.

Calorie Count

A 16 fl.oz serving of Live+ has 180 calories.

The drink’s calorie count is moderately low compared to the recommended 2,000-calorie limit. This won’t have a significant effect on your diet, and if you’re keeping a specific calorie intake, you won’t have to make tedious adjustments.

On the flip side, if you’re keeping a strict diet, then it’s best to opt for either low-calorie drinks or those with no calories at all.

Is Live+ A Healthy Energy Drink?

Despite the extracts and vitamins in Live+ content, it can’t be considered a healthy energy drink because of its sugar level.

A combination of a healthy meal
Live+ isn’t healthy.

Energy drinks are rarely healthy, but there are other brands that pass the standards for this. Unfortunately, I don’t think Live+ can be one of them mainly because of the sugar level.

Not to mention, this has lower amounts of vitamins in its content. It only has two B vitamins, two extracts, and also contains a preservative.

In my opinion, there are other much healthier energy drinks in the market.

Does Live+ Actually Work?

Live+ actually works in terms of giving a good amount of energy boost.

The drink’s 107mg caffeine is enough for a light boost. This is enough to improve your physical and mental performance for at least half a day. You can also expect the following benefits:

  • Improved Concentration
  • Enhanced Physical Performance
  • Longer Duration of Energy Boost
  • Decreased Fatigue Levels
  • Increased Physical Endurance

Note that if you have stronger boosting needs or you have high caffeine tolerance, you may find Live+ inadequate for hours’ worth of energy.

Is Live+ Good For Everyday Consumption?

Live+ Energy Drink won’t be good for everyday consumption.

Because Live+ contains both caffeine and sugar, taking it every day will lead to increased risks of certain issues like:

  • Heart Disease
  • Fatty Liver Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Caffeine Dependence/Addiction
  • High Blood Pressure

It doesn’t matter if you only take one 16 fl. oz can a day. Taking energy drinks on a daily basis comes with guaranteed risks of caffeine dependence.

You should consider opting for a brand without caffeine, or those with at least lower sugar levels if you really want a daily go-to drink.

Can I drink several Live+ Energy servings each day?

Live+ contains a lot of sugar and caffeine, therefore drinking more than one bottle in a day might have negative consequences. The amount of caffeine in a single serving of Live+ is safe to consume without worry. However, the amount of sugar in food is something that has to be watched carefully.

Adding up the calories from more than one Live+ might have an effect on your weight. Limit yourself to one can each day to maintain a healthy sugar intake while experiencing the stimulating effects of this beverage.

What Effects Does Live+ Energy Have on the Body?

Large levels of caffeine, sugar, and other additives or legal stimulants in Live+ energy drinks may cause a rise in blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing rate, among other effects.

The benefits of the Caffeine in Live+ will start to wear off after just an hour or two, and a sugar crash might follow. Eventually, you’ll feel fatigued and a general decline in vitality.

What Does Live+ Energy Taste Like?

Live+ offers a modest dose of caffeine, B Vitamins, and guarana and Panax ginseng extract, and it has a crisp citrus flavor.

The original citrus has a pleasant, not-too-sweet flavor. It tastes tart and lemony. The flavor of the tart apple is sour and more pronounced on the sour side than the flavor of Mother Energy Epic.

How Does Live+ Taste Like?

Live+ Energy Drink’s taste has a touch of citrus and fizz, which makes it a sweet-sour soda.

Here are the flavors that Live+ comes in:

  • Zero Sugar
  • Original Citrus
  • Tart Apple

I personally like the Tart Apple flavor because of its interesting combination, but because of the sugar level, I’d recommend going for the Zero Sugar variation instead.

Is Live+ Internationally Available?

Live+ is widely available in New Zealand and neighboring countries, but it’s also internationally available through several shopping sites.

If you live around New Zealand or Australia, then you’ll probably find Live+ in any convenience store or grocery store near you.

For those outside the said states, then you can refer to these sites:

Note that stocks and availability may vary depending on where you buy the drink from.

Is Live+ Budget-Friendly?

Live+ costs $2 to $3, which is a budget-friendly price if you plan on taking this once in a while.

The energy drink has the same price range as other brands. This makes it a regularly-priced beverage, but practically, it can still be considered budget-friendly.

Even so, I think there are other energy drinks that will give you better value for your money. More specifically, I recommend powder energy drinks since they’re around the same price, but have better overall offers.

Live+ Alternatives

Conclusion: Overall Rating Of Live+

I personally think that Live+ is a so-so energy drink. I’ll give it a 6 out 10, considering all that it can offer.

I didn’t find anything remarkable in Live+ aside from the extracts it used in its content and the moderate caffeine levels.

It has a comparatively higher amount of sugar compared to others, which can be risky to the health of people with sugar sensitivity. Its calorie count is also isn’t ideal for those with a strict calorie intake.

The good thing is, the drink is vegan. There are no animal by-products in the drink. This is a plus for those who want to keep a monitored vegan intake.

All in all, this is something that I wouldn’t recommend to a lot of people unless you’re a big fan of sugary energy drinks.
